I just got a pair of the TW Pro 178s and I was wondering where I should get them mounted. I am coming from a pair of 2012 Salomon Suspect 171s which I had center mounted and I liked the way they skiied. The recommended mount is -3 which seems pretty far back, so I was wondering what your opinion on getting them center mounted would be. I don't believe the skis are fully symmetrical which is probably why the recommended mount is further back. Thanks!
Always center mount in my opinion.
Center mount is just perfect because you get the same amount of space on the back as a the front.
It doesn't matter if the ski isn't symmetrical, that just changes how the width of the tail and nose are different.

It very much affects the way the ski... Skis. Recommended puts your midsole over the sidecut center which allows to to carve and ski the way the ski was intended.
It opens at all values performance of the ski out side of just rails, and small features, then I would highly suggest that you keep the mount right around recommended.

Thanks man, appreciate the insight. I think that's what I'm gonna go with.

I hear where you're coming from on that but I don't want to sacrifice the ability to ski switch as well as be even in the air by not having them in the center.

If you don't carve while skiing switch, then sure, mount em center. If you do carve while skiing switch, mounting center on a non symmetrical ski will inhibit how the skis ride switch. Again, you want the sidecut center under your midsole.

Mounting a non symmetrical ski center makes it carve worse switch. Common misconception that mounting center always makes switch better
In the "Roofbox Review" of the Tom Wallisch it actually mentioned the advantages for not center mounting.

Ah never realized that, I guess I've still got a lot to learn about how ski engineering works. Thanks for the info guys, appreciate it.

Yea I did read through that article, it was super informative. I was wondering if anyone else had experience on these skis and noticed the same thing tomPietrowski was talking about with losing a lot of carving ability from mounting them in the center.
