I see so many edits with people not wearing helmets. I thought it was common practice now for people to always wear em.
Helmets are the worst invention, so much more style without them
Seriously though OP helmets are extremely important, my dad was avalanched ice climbing and would surely be dead without his helmet. No matter what the risk, your dome piece is more important than appealing to the public eye.
Now imagine if he wasn’t wearing one...

I hate helmets. I want brain damage so I can have a tragic backstory when my mental state causes me to blow my brains out.
The “added style” is definitely not worth it. No matter how good you can still fall and hit your head. Go to anyone who’s had a head injury and ask them if they wish they were wearing a helmet. Almost like wearing a seatbelt. If it can happen, it will happen. And if it does, you’re gonna wish you had that seatbelt on.

Yeah man. Totally agree. People don't understand that you yourself are not this issue, it's the actions of other people that tend to put you in danger, accidents tend to be a result of reaction.
Skiing without a helmet is like having sex without a condom. You know its risky and you shouldn't be doing it but god damn it that shit feels too nice

My helmet saved my life in january, I got a way with only a severe concussion. But I have never considered not wearing a helmet in 14 years.
Just wear a helmet hood if you don't want people to see it.
Forgot my helmet the other day and ended up riding in a beenie, honestly didnt really feel worried about crashing as much as I was worried about getting fucking clobbered by some kook.

brolf and pretty much everyone from that crew (windells academy 13-14) lives in PC now. I think I'm the only one thats still at hood.
It’s because nobody noteworthy has had serious brain damage or died doing urban yet. As soon as someone inevitably does, watch the wave of helmets sweep over video parts and edits. It’s silly, predictable and completely avoidable - and inevitable.
The only two reasons people wear helmets are because it looks cool and because it feels more comfortable.
End of thread.
suffered a TBI with a helmet and cant imagine how bad it would have been without one so thats sorta why i wear one.
kinda equate it to a seat belt, sure its not gonna stop your car from flipping when shit hits the fan but at least you're not gonna get flung through the windsheild

While were on this topic let's discuss the hand that helmet brands have in the pocket of terrain parks in resorts. I noticed that all mid-west coast resorts do not enforce a mandatory helmet policy but however, almost every east coast resort forces people to wear helmet in the parks. Could the companies be lobbying/conspiring with resorts to enforce helmet policies to boost up their bottom line? Are company lobbyists looking to enact laws to enforce helmets on extreme sports such as skiing?

Not the worst thing in the world to be honest. Conspiring to improve their profits at the cost of making skiing safer?

I think its more for the liability of the ski resort more than a helmet company conspiracy.
Personally, I never used to care about helmets. Until I got a severe concussion, had some brain trauma, and had to get medaflighted. After that, I would not ski without a helmet. So I think it really comes down to personal experience.
I think if more people had a similar experience and got a wake up call, that they'd be wearing helmets too. So some people, have just been lucky enough to not have any real close calls *yet*.
Although there's some people out there (like my brother) who are stubborn af. He will go riding, throw a double backflip, land on his neck or catch an edge on a rail and smash his head against it, knock out teeth, get all f'ed up, but still won't wear a helmet because he swears they wouldn't help him much anyways. I'm at the place where I'll take all the protection I can get, but that's just me.

I'm curious what resorts you've been to that enforce this. I've been to parks all over the east coast and have seen almost every park staffer without a helmet. Btw Berns headquarters is a 10 min drive from my house in Massachusetts.
I've had 3 severe concussions while skiing. 2 wearing a helmet, 1 with no helmet. Clearly helmets are twice as dangerous
Fuck me im just gonna said it... wearing a helmet looks far better

I usually do but our park sucked this year (and when I say sucked I mean in proportion to what it usually is, which is terrible) so I haven't really worn it except cold days
