I'm a High School kid I have a pass at Meadows and want to start skiing more park. Rails, Jumps and Tricks, Etc. Just looking for advice on where to start/ technique anything really
Ask people in the park nicely, they'll usually be happy to give you some pointers on what your working on.. Other than that progress from boxes to rails etc. basic stuff first
50/50 on boxes, then go to a normal slide. It helps just commit to taking the box slide to switch the first few times to make sure you get to 90 degrees and avoid any gripping issues. As far as jumps go, try doing 180s on the smallest of side hits before trying it on little park jumps. Keep yourself watching the landing the whole way through the spin rather than looking back up the hill when you land. Next step is 3's and there's a thousand threads and vids around about those.
biggest thing ever: stay in control. If you lose control or do shit out of your level you will hurt yourself and end up on Jerry of the Day. Start slow on boxes and progress from sliding boxes to sliding rails. Jumps are easy, just make sure you stay centered and try to keep your skis together.
your progression mainly depends on how big of balls you have. You could spend an entire season on boxes (like my first season) or you could learn how to hit rails in less than a month. Don't be afraid of falling otherwise you will never try anything new. This year I decided to just accept that I will fall a lot and I am progressing so much faster than previous seasons. Also skiing with people better than you helps a ton as well.
also youtube is a very good resource for a first look or a general idea of how to do a trick
You don't really have to be taught. Just go for it and practice and skills will come.
just go send it pussy smh lmao yeet yeet gang gang

Really important thing is to pay attention to park ettiquette. You'll have a lot better time if you don't do something silly (that you didn't realize) and there isn't some park rat kid screaming at you.
1. Do not EVER stand in the landing - of anything. Jumps are obvious, rails much less so. Always be looking at what you're stopping under so you're not blocking anyone. Safest thing to do is always stop beside stuff. Beside is your friend. You're almost never in the way if you're healthily beside something.
2. If you fall and you're not hurt, get the fuck out of the way as fast as possible... especially on jumps. Don't run straight up the landing to get your ski, run to the side and then run up the side until you know it's clear.
3. Don't hit the jumps of rails as a jump. It fucks up the lip, and its a mega gaper move which will make people angry.
4. If there's a lineup to something and you can't get a turn, just call "Drop" and go.
5. Don't "snake". If you're coming on the inrun of something and there was a dude lining it up already, you back out and let them hit the feature. Concurrently, if you're riding and you get inspired to hit a rail and turn into the inrun, give a super quick uphill look to make sure someone isn't already dropping.
Anyone know if I missed anything?
Stomp it tutorials, bag of tricks, and empire tutorials are all great YouTube channels for learning your beginner tricks and progressing
Find a rail or box that your comfortable with and hike it for as long as you can. The longer the rail the better. Trying to stay on a rail as long as possible makes you understand how to get on and off the rail as easy as you can

also respect gets respect dont make fun of kids for 180ing if you can only 3 if you are good and see someone else who is learning throw down cheer them on, fist bump them or do something to acknowledge like yo that was sick.
and also if you see some gaper and his jerry dad in the park dont yell at them encourage them to get out of the park and atleast tell them not to stand in landings etc.
