Okay so this thread may seem weird. What exactly is all of these things like gender fluidity, pansexual, skoliosexual, and things like that? What are your views on it? Moreover, what is your view of transgender? Is that okay? I'm curious to know the opinions.
i don't personally agree with it, but my personal opinion isn't the end all be all, so if other people want to do things like this, do it i don't care. i personally don't agree with it but that doesn't mean i should freak out at somebody that does
What the fuck is skoliosexual? People who are sexually attracted to someone with scoliosis?
If someone is gay or bisexual, would they be sexually attracted to themselves?
pansexual means you'll fuck anyone. As far as I know, skoliosexual means you'll fuck people who don't identify as either a man or woman.
My views are I don't give a shit what you do, think, or feel as long as it doesn't oppress someone else. If it helps you fall asleep at night and get out of bed in the morning, then go for it.
i think this whole movement of "gender and sex have no correlation" is total bullshit. Iodinate get mad or interfere with people who believe this but i mean come on... You're saying that if you are a man, and are attracted to women, but feel like a woman on the inside, then you are now a woman who is attracted to women?? i may not fully understand but it sounds more like mental illness and confusion to me.
Has anyone else ever thought that all the hormone disrupting chemicals in food and water and medication could have any slight thing to do with this? Think about it... lets say that most processed food containing these chemicals began (and was mass consumed) in the early to mid 1900's. That would mean that our generation would be the first babies of people who have been consuming these sorts of chemicals and pills for a full lifetime. My thought is that these sorts of things may not have immediate effects on the consumer but have carried down through the generation and is now affecting us.
This is all just bullshit theory with no backing but doesn't that sound kind of right? The only explanation i have heard for why there seems to be such a larger number of LGBT people vs 15-20 years ago is that the global community is more open to these sorts of things now... I think that is true on some level but doesn't fully explain the amount of LGBT in the community today.
I have nothing against people like this i just feel that to say it's completely normal and part of being human is wrong... Even things like being a "furry" weirds me the fuck out and i personally do not consider that to be normal human behaviour. Extremes like that must stem from some deep rooted mental illness or insecurity.

No. And I think your math might be off...or you define "generation" really broadly.
BogsNo. And I think your math might be off...or you define "generation" really broadly.
lol the entire statement was a little broad... Like i said I'm just putting out this idea, no serious work or proof behind it.
I'd say people under the age of 30 would be who I'm referring to. Saying that because their parents were some of the first to be exposed to serious chemicals daily, it may have adverse affects on their kin.
Being sexually active is important. How you go about that... seems to be a freedom of choice nowadays. Just be aware that I have the freedom to talk shit about your choice.
stinky_petei don't personally agree with it, but my personal opinion isn't the end all be all, so if other people want to do things like this, do it i don't care. i personally don't agree with it but that doesn't mean i should freak out at somebody that does
Out of curiosity, what do you mean by you don't agree with it? That you wouldn't support a law allowing it? That you don't respect people who identify as it? The bible says it's wrong so you do too? That you don't believe that it's a real thing?
There a lot of people who say they don't agree with non-binary genders/sexualities but many will explain it differently. Most of the time they say they "don't agree", as you did, but what is there really to agree with?
If I told you my natural hair color is blonde but by looking at me, you'd see that it's brown. Would you say that you "don't agree" that it's blonde? Probably not. If you were skeptical, you'd say you didn't believe me. Would it matter if I always dyed my hair brown because I'm more comfortable with brown hair?
(disclaimer: my hair is physically and naturally brown)
Often people will say that they don't agree with something as a nice way of saying that they don't respect it, whether they are aware of it or not.
DirtYStylEJust be aware that I have the freedom to talk shit about your choice.
Everyone has the freedom to be an asshole but that doesn't mean you should be one.

I was wondering the same thing, what people mean when they say they "don't agree" with it. And on top of that, why? I just don't understand people being dicks about it in general. Like, what's the end goal when you tell someone they're a freak, or wrong, or bad for being any of the things op asked about? It's not like it's magically going to change the way they are. Just seems like a waste of energy to me. Aren't there better things to worry or care about than who someone else prefers to have sex with?
>What exactly is all of these things like gender fluidity
Doesn't exist
>pansexual
Bi but also likes trannies
>skoliosexual
Never heard that
>and things like that?
Most of them are made up and don't exist
>Moreover, what is your view of transgender?
It's stupid but people have the right to do it if they want.
>Is that okay?
It's okay (albeit stupid) for people to be trannies. It's not okay for people to try to turn it into a political issue.

You make us Christians look bad. If you are an asshole to people for being gay/trans, then you are not a righteous person. If you truly understood your religion (I'm guessing you are Christian) then you would discover that you're not called to be a dickhead to them.
Don't even get me started. Taking this topic to a religious matter is not going to look good. BTW I'm not a fan Christianity. I have been reading into Buddhism more frequently.

Whether or not you support it is your own business. If you're opposed to something, you certainly have the right to express that in a mature manner. You don't have the right to "talk shit" about it.
i feel like most of them excluding LGBT are made up by kids on tumblr. I dont give a fuck what you do with your life as long as youre not hurting anyone else
If you want to cut off your trouser snake and replace it with a silicone va jay jay or whatever, that's great. I just cant respect you anymore. I said cant, not wont for a reason, i just cant bring myself to respect you. I don't know I just can't. Gay, that's different. But as far as transgenders go, everybody "has challenges" or "gets confused". But you need to man up and deal with it and not make excuses for yourself. Grow up. If you want to bring attention to yourself in high school or whatever, that's great, but think about it. You are actually now an outcast for life. Like da fuk? You can get a boob job and such but you cant change your voice or anything. How are you eyer going to attract a mate with a voice that sounds like the dos dos equis man? Like you are actually going to die alone and all 27 of your cats are going to eat you.
unsure if this is a unpopular opinion or not

But of course you wouldn't - you're straight (I assume). You don't chose your gender or sexuality... you can choose to act upon your feelings but that's no different than you or I choosing to dating girls. We do so because our bodies (and society) tell us to do so. The only difference with LGBTQ people is that they don't have society backing their actions - just their bodies.
Honestly, who gives a shit. Don't like it? Ignore it. Seriously, it really isn't that big a deal. It just gets blown out of proportion with pop culture and the media. I'm just sick and tired of people bickering over nonsense like this while we could be putting much more effort and brain power into things that actually matter in the overall scheme of things. Why is Gus Kenworthy's sexual preference or Caitlyn Jenner's gender classification more important to many people than the fact that 1500 kids on average die of Malaria (a totally preventable disease with the right measures) each DAY in Africa? We all need to smart up and stop letting our brains rot with useless celebrity gossip. It's not getting us anywhere and never will.
And another thing-- I've never understood what gives a person the right to tell another what they should and shouldn't get a boner from, frankly. People have different preferences, get over it.

Well, it's most certainly not normal to be trans, if by normal you mean average, but from what I've gathered, trans people are just as human as the rest of the population.
On the topic of theories, if fixing one's body could solve the majority of the problem, why should we even consider it a mental illness? Why not a physical disability?
Also, in my opinion, it's very wrong to call trans people confused- they know. Ask any trans person. It's not genderfluid, or non-binary, it's a sure feeling since childhood that they are in the wrong body and belong in the exact opposite one they were assigned to. That's not confusion.
Not to sound like a smart ass, and I'm not going to go into detail here, but I'd encourage you to look up some videos on the scientific aspect of being transgender, since your beliefs on how its cause must be "deep rooted mental illness or insecurity" seem a little ignorant. (No hate, not trying to be condescending or anything.) It's actually pretty interesting. Peace.
Couldn't care less what other people do in their own time. Doesn't bother me at all. I don't judge any of my transgender or gay friends. Some are good people and good friends and even good parents and pretty normal folks.
But just like if you have moronic tattoos and look stupid if you are cross dressing and look stupid Im going to think you look stupid nothing more nothing less. But not every transgender person cross dresses and looks like an idiot not to mention women can't even really cross dress anymore there are no male exclusive outer garments manufactured such as dresses/bras/skirts are for females.

Interesting view point. I was probably a bit insensitive in my original post, i'm not very read up in this topic at all, I probably should have banked the thought. That's just this theory i've had brewing for a while, i have gay friends and family so I'm not alienated or weirded out by it but i just think there's more behind it... I'm gonna stop spreading my opinion until i learn a bit more.
Super serious question. Like this isn't supposed to be meant in a bad way- I want someone to prove me wrong. I'd be stoked.
So I get people are always like "I was born this way" or "it's who I am." And people saying that you aren't born with a specific gender or it can change and whatever. I'm sorry but that makes absolutely no fucking sense to me.
When it comes down to it males have XY sex chromosomes. Females have XX sex chromosomes. And there are many differences that I don't care to get into. Point being, how can you be born with say XX chromosomes and claim to have been born a male? Like that is not a thing.
Well okay, its happened where someone was physically a female but genetically a male. (Caster Semenya for example) . Unless you've undergone a karyotype how would you know what you are genetically? Are you saying that suddenly this super rare thing isn't rare anymore? Or maybe it was never rare to begin with, i don't actually know.
I just don't get it. I'm accepting of people's beliefs and think anyone should do/be what makes them happy. However, can someone show me scientific proof that trans people are actually born the other gender?
Not trying to argue the other side either or come across like I don't support it. If someone actually showed me scientific, objective information on this I would be stoked. I just have never come across anything objective which rubs me the wrong way with stuff like this.

It's interesting you mention this because I'm looking into something similar, but with fisheries. All the chemicals we put in our bodies are not completely absorbed. The reminder end up in your toilet bowl. Now if you live in rural areas with septic systems it's not as great of an issue as urban populations with sewage. All those chemicals/hormones end up at a sewage treatment plant, which are very good at removing waste, but not so good at chemicals and hormones. Those compounds (specifically birth control hormones) end up in the water and mess with the hormones of the organisms that live there, mainly fish. They cause infertile and hermaphrodite individuals.
Granted, it takes less of a given hormone to change a fish reproductively than a human or larger organism, but it's not out of the realm of possibilities that all the crap we put into our bodies has negative side effects that we don't know about haha.

Most of how you develop is initiated by hormones. My guess is that it's not the whole chromosome it self thats at fault, but the individual alleles which code for certain hormones to be developed a certain way and released at a certain time. This process gets messed up somehow. They aren't born the other gender physically, but something is different in their brain than a "normal" individual.
I have no evidence to back this up haha entirely theory. If anyone wants to do some med research please do this haha.
As far as rareness is concerned, I think a large part of homosexuality/bisexuallity/ transgender is that it has not been publicly acceptable until recently. That, coupled with social media, giving everyone a voice made the actual number of them more accurately know. Once a few people come out, naturally the amount that come out will grow exponentially. Just look at the Bill Cosby thing haha. Once one came out with what happened to her, woman were coming out of the woodwork saying he drugged and raped them.
They've really been here all the time, they just weren't open about it.

I guess that leads into a Nature vs nurture kind of conflict then. Because I've never seen anything to say otherwise, I'm going to say its environmentally influenced.
Maybe this is just me, but I feel like gay/bi/lesbian/trans etc people try soooo hard to prove that this is how they have always been and born that way and all that. Which is kinda sad because it's like everyone is trying to prove themselves instead of just being/doing what they want. Like no one should feel like they have to prove themselves to anyone. Either way it would be dope to see some science to back it, whether its genetically or environmentally influenced.
Yeah true. It's becoming more widely accepted so more people are going to feel comfortable enough to come out. I'm genuinely interested to see how many trans people have a male genotype with female phenotype(and vice versa). That would be interesting as hell!

Are you implying that there is a difference between gender and sex? I thought they were the same thing
MinggAre you implying that there is a difference between gender and sex? I thought they were the same thing
They aren't. Sex = male/female, or what genitalia you have. Gender = man/woman, or how society expects boys to act vs. how we expect girls to act, for a very simple example: boys like blue, girls like pink, if you are a boy who likes pink, you are, in the eyes of many, wrong, or a more grown up example, women are supposed to want to stay home and be moms, men are supposed to want to go out and make money. There is no science behind the whole "boys like blue, girls like pink" thing or the "women stay home, men have jobs" thing, it's just the way we, as a society, have constructed it.
Honestly, as long as said person is a decent person, I don't give a flying fuck about who they like, what they identify as, etc. It just doesnt matter in the long run. People make way too big a deal about this shit.

Well this thread sure blew up when I was asleep.
To each their own. I see no reason to make these people's lives even harder by being a dick. We're all weird anyway, in one way or another.
dingusIf someone is gay or bisexual, would they be sexually attracted to themselves?
Well yes. Some philosophers consider masturbation to be a homosexual act. However that doesn't make one homosexual as acts don't define people like we like to think.

Someone can "not agree with it," but still accept those that do.
For instance...someone may think that plastic surgery is not healthy for people-- so they "don't agree with plastic surgery as a treatment for body dysmorphic disorder," but they also think that their own personal opinion shouldn't dictate how others live their lives..so they are ok with others doing their own thing, and wont try to hinder anyone else's rights.
I am that way about abortion. Personally, I am pro-life. However, I also don't think that my own opinion should dictate what others can do or decide...so if someone wants to have an abortion that's their own choice, and I have no say--but I don't agree with the choice. I just think that the fact that "I don't agree," is meaningless for anyone else but myself, so I just keep it to myself.
Transgender is not real. I'm going to tell you why:
Man who wants to be a woman: "I was born as a man but i know in my heart and soul that I am a woman."
This argument is retarded. The only way to know in your soul that you are a woman is to be born a woman. The only way to know in your soul that you are a man is to be born a man. simple and plain. Transgenderism completely trivializes what it means to be a man or a woman. being born a man or a woman is a wonderful thing! embrace it. If you're "not comfortable in your own skin" or whatever the fuck that bullshit argument is, well then tough bananas. I was born with brown skin, but I can't just decide one day that I'm really Chinese, now can i? There are people born with incurable and crippling genetic disorders that cause them immense pain or other terrible symptoms. Those are the real people who aren't comfortable in their own skin. if you're not happy with the way you were born simply because you don't want to be a certain gender, then you should either suck it up or just kill yourself, not turn it into a fucking political movement. your gender is a chromosomal reality, there is nothing "fluid" about it.
to put it all into perspective: i was born a human male, but i know in my heart and soul that i am truly a northern screech owl. if you disagree, you're a fucking owlphobe and you should check your fucking privilege.
Having said all of that, I believe that people should be allowed to express themselves however they want, so long as it does not infringe upon the rights of others. By all means, get a reassignment/mutilation surgery, dress in the other gender's clothes, do whatever you want! Just don't ask the world to acknowledge what you are doing as a real thing. Nobody thinks cosplayers are actually superheroes or anything, because we know they are pretending. There are no such things as "trans men" and "trans women." There are men cosplaying women, and women cosplaying men. Society is just too pussyfooted and PC to call them on it.
BlindsurferTransgenderism completely trivializes what it means to be a man or a woman.
holy shit, this.
Bruce Jenner has not had surgery to physically become a woman, which means that to go from a "man" to a "woman," in society, all he had to do was put on a dress and makeup and curl his hair.
"He is a woman now...see..he's in a dress." I didn't know that being a woman was as superficial as putting on a corset and lipstick... and if it is, that would make me less of a woman than Caitlyn. It saddened me actually...why are women being such pushovers? I feel like the natural nurturing and accepting nature of women is being used against us. We are so caught up in accepting transgender that we don't recognize how much it is trivializing what it means to be a woman.
MinggEither way it would be dope to see some science to back it, whether its genetically or environmentally influenced.

found this video interesting--answer: there is no scientific way to confirm or deny-- they touch on it in this video.
Blindsurfernot turn it into a fucking political movement
You do realize that the only reason it's a political movement is because of people who try to deny transgendered people rights, right? It's not transgendered people who are turning it into a political movement, it's the people opposing them who are.
The only thing I'm gonna say here is that just because it's not something you understand doesn't mean it isn't real. What I'm hearing from everyone posting saying it's bullshit is "it doesn't make sense to me, I haven't experienced this, therefore it doesn't exist." That seems extremely closed to me. It doesn't really make sense to jump to conclusions based on what is unknown.
