Daniel Hanka | RAW ROOTS Pt.3

The third and final episode is from the shoot at the Swiss resort of Crans Montana on a jump that was specifically built for this shoot on the other side of the glacier. The jump was absolutely massive, inrun speed was around 85-90kph including a huge "bridge" that followed after a tricky blind spot cat track.

CzechMate S02E03 | Dolce Primavera

The season has been pretty meh in Europe as America has stolen all the snow from us. We decided we wanna go to Kronplatz to enjoy some serious spring laps. However... Weather sucked but we managed to have 1 good and 1 ok sweet spring days through week long window. Daniel fell sick after day 1 and had to leave home. Jan arrived after Daniel's departure, but hurt his knee during his first day of skiing. Considering our "luck" this episode turned out way better then we were thinking it would be.

The Documentary | DaniHell Hanka Invitational 2022

In March 2022, the inaugural Danihell Hanka Invitational welcomed twelve unique skiers from across the freeski spectrum to Daniel Hanka’s home resort of Destne, Czechia. Their mission: to enjoy a week-long, no-rules session on a special park setup envisioned by Daniel, and to bring back a touch of the flavor and style from the times before skiing was dominated by rules, regulations and organizations.

“With this invitational, I would love to bring back the old-school park session and do an event that will actually satisfy the core of our ski community,” says Daniel. “My skiing is really character oriented, so I would like to appreciate all the other skiers that are working this way. That’s pretty much the point of the Danihell Hanka invitational.

The power of chaotic faith brought Danihell & Simba into Austrian Alps. Original plan was to meet up with local hero Tom Ritsch enjoy the Kitzsteinhorn snowpark, however the park was not ready and therefore Tom took us to scope around the mountain. We have found the sacred place called The Crystal Bahn, full of curvy terrain, which became our favourite place on earth for next 4 sunny days. Therefor the name: As Is. We just used the mountain terrain as we found it and we were basically just skiing, finding natural hits and little lines to do tricks on.

In January 2019, after I finished rehab of my second ACL surgery, I was looking for a filmer for my new Cruise'n'Roll project. I posted an Instagram story and got a reply from a random french guy, fulltime engineer Erwan, aka Kekous. We never saw each other, exchanged couple messages on gram and suddenly he took a month of his regular everyday job to go to Czech Republic and film with me. Pretty insane if you ask me. But that's how modern world works. This video summes up the month we spent together from Erwan's perspective. It was definitely a time to remember and brings back tons of memories. It takes a month to make a friend for life.

A summer project that came out of nowhere during my trip to America - Good 'Ol Ski Edit has been filmed by many people with lots of different cameras with different settings, and it's all about skiing and a good vibes, like it was with ski edits back in the days. This is somewhat of tribute to the times, when people were shredding together and filming each other, hustling with the shots afterwards to make something out of it. This has been sure a bit of a hustle.. But it was all worth it and i hope you guys will enjoy it..and most importantly..that it'll make you want to do out there and shredd!!!

After the Faction Skis team shoot, Antti talk me to stay one more day and chill in Annecy after heavy team week.. So I stayed, we went for a lunch, met up with long Faction skis teammate Arnaud Rogier and suddenly we went water skiing on my park skis. It was really cold, really windy.. Water was also cold, and in the background you can see mountains covered with snow. However, in the end we've been all stoked that we we're able to do this. Shout out to Arno, for hooking us up with his sick boat and wetsuits to wear!

Winter is coming in hot, and I´m 6 months after my ACL and meniscus surgery... After long time of pretty much not doin anything except workouts, long gym sessions and all the boring stuff.. I finally felt comfortable enough and deciced to fully test my knee in a skatepark. Hard impacts, pops, crashes, goin fast, doin tricks... The knee feels good and i think I´m ready to get back on skis in full power again! And HOPEFULLY to film new season of Smelly Socks!

SMELLY SOCKS I 3.1

Smelly Socks 3.1 is, unfortunately, the one and only Smelly Socks webisode this year. Simply for two reasons: We have zero budget for this and Daniel hurt his knee. But this doesent mean Smelly Socks are done! We tried hard and made at least one this year. And we will try even harder to bring you more Smelly Socks edits in upcoming season, so dont be sad and stay tunned!

This particular time for 3.1, we visited Absolut park Flachauwinkl in Austria. Daniel, Antti and Martin drove with Dans sketchy 1998 VW Golf literally overloaded with all kinds of classic shit like bags, skis, filming equipment...But also pretty gross shit, like a mixture of candies and leftover snacks on the floor, which at some point, mixed with melted snow, became some sort of nasty candysauce as we called it, while Martin was constantly complaining about Daniel driving too fast and too furious. We drove about 6 hours from Czech Republic to Flachau where we all stayed at Matthias Krallingers amazing house in the middle of the mountain. and he even has his own miniramp in a basement, where we had nice afternoon sessions after skiing with beers and a good music.

Overally we had 4 days to film the edit. But as it usually is the weather didnt really cooperate, so we had 1 day off and stayed home. That left us 3 days to work with. Unlike the bummer day at home, those other days luckily worked out perfectly for us! We had 2 days of sun that we used in a park and even one deep powder day! Where Daniel and Antti tried to be like The Big Picture guys and hit cliffs and stuff on their centermounted park skis, doin countless tomahawks, calling it the best day at work ever pretty much after each hit. At this point we were also joined by everyones favourite Zuzicka Stromkova, and she was sending the cliffs with dem boyz like theres no tomorrow, leaving Daniel and Antti speechless! Daniel dropped his first cliff ever in his life and Antti was killing it as usually on his 1.0s - for example his massive nosebudda dub 10 out off totally fucking nowhere speaks for itself. The rest of it youll see in the webisode. So sit comfy, blast your volume and enjoy the rocknroll!
