High Fives Non-Profit Foundation, Tahoe’s premier philanthropic pulse is excited to announce the Landon McGauley Project (Chapter Two). The High Fives Non-Profit Foundation received an application under the Winter Empowerment Fund in the name of Landon McGauley in the fall, 2010. Landon now returns to Lake Tahoe for Chapter Two (April 15-22, 2011).

Vital Stats: Age: 16 Hometown: Quesnel, BC Canada Date of Injury: July 4, 2011 Explanation of Injury: T5 spinal cord injury. Paralyzed from the chest down. Accident occurred at Sun Peaks Resort, Kamloops BC, Canada. Recovery goal: “My recovery goal is to be able to get back on the mountain in a sit ski this winter. The Ultimate goal is to pursue my dream of competing in the Olympics in 2014.”

Landon McGauley Project (Chapter Two) Schedule:

• Attend Trains 2011 Freestyle Ski Contest at Alpine Meadows - April 16
• Ski Alpine Meadows - April 17-18
• Ski Alpine Meadows - April 19 (Ski Gates / Race)
• Ski Sugar Bowl, CA - April 20
• Ski Squaw Valley USA - April 21

The High Fives Non-Profit Foundation has procured another amazing trip for Landon McGauley and his mother to come to Lake Tahoe, April 15-22, 2011. The Winter Empowerment Fund has provided Landon: transportation by Truckee Tahoe Transportation Inc., lodging at a Resort at Squaw Creek Condo (thanks to Robert Green Jr. of CoJo Bay Advisors), adaptive lessons with Disabled Sports USA FarWest (Alpine Meadows) with Bill Bowness at Alpine Meadows, Katherine Hayes Rodriguez at Squaw Valley USA and Sugar Bowl along with several other big surprises. Unofficial Networks will be filming the entire trip.

This time, en-route to his relentless pursuit of making the Canadian Paralympic Ski Team, Landon is hungry to improve his skills, learn more from the best in the business and enjoy the Lake Tahoe energy. With High Fives Non-Profit Foundation’s Trains 2011 event (Saturday, April 16 at Alpine Meadows Ski Resort), ski training at Alpine Meadows, Squaw Valley USA and Sugar Bowl Resort (April 17-21 respectively) the week ahead will be one for the record books.
