Within the past 48 hours Alta/Bird has received over 2 feet of snow, and that was when I was writing this post, around 3 P.M. EST.  That is a heck of a lot of snow for May 19th, and with forecasts of a storm totaling around 25-35”, there is going to be some deep submarining going on this morning.  Just looking at the weather is making me get into a powder frenzy, and I’m sitting here in Vermont.

Snowbird is the only resort left operating in Utah, and with the magnitude of this storm, they have their work cut out for them.  This was posted on the Snowbird site yesterday: Snowbird has received more than 30″ of snow this week. Due to the unusual amount of spring snow and the forecast for continuing precipitation, hours of operation and available terrain for Friday, 5/20, are TBD. Depending on the overnight snowfall, if Snowbird is able to open for skiing and riding Friday the terrain will be limited. This report will be updated when new info is available.

Here’s to all the folks shredding pow today in Utah and other parts of the West, the endless season continues for you guys…Get Some!

Lastly, here is a video courtesy of Unofficial Networks from May 18th.  Patsy was looking tasty…can’t wait to get back out there for an extended period again next winter!
