NBC’S WORLD OF ADVENTURE SPORTS® KICKS OFF SEASON 8 WITH EPIC EVENTS

This episode features snowboarding, adventure racing, skiing and rally

NEW YORK, New York, January 19th, 2011—The World of Adventure Sports® (WOAS), an

action and adventure sports series, will air on Sunday, January 23rd at 3:00 p.m. ET/12:00 p.m.

PT. Host, Todd Harris of NBC Sports brings viewers the first episode of the 2011 season from

O’Neil’s Rally School in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.

The next episode will feature:

•The 2010 Abu Dhabi Adventure Challenge: Teams from all corners of the world will compete in

this multi-discipline outdoor adventure race that will test both skill and endurance as they take

on the 2010 Abu Dhabi Adventure Race. Teams battle through six consecutive days of grueling

competition spanning the remarkable landscape of the Arabian Peninsula. Disciplines include;

sea-kayaking, cross-orienteering, running, mountain biking and swimming.

•Rallycross from the New Jersey Motorsports Park: The action-sport of auto racing, Rallycross is

a blend of circuit racing, off-road racing and rally competition. Five drivers line up to start at once,

piloting high-horsepower compact cars through race traffic over a challenging short course that

features jumps, unbanked turns, hills and transitions between pavement and gravel. Debuting at

X Games 16 under the name "SuperRally", the sport returned to New Jersey Motorsports Park for

Round 2 of the U.S. Rallycross Championship and again delivered intense crowd-pleasing action

with a new cast of European teams challenging America's best drivers for rallycross dominance.

•Oakley and Shaun White present Air & Style Beijing 2010: Air & Style is a 6 star event

of the Swatch TTR World Snowboard Tour, with a prize purse totaling €75,000. The

Winner receives the Ring of Glory and 1000 points for the TTR World Ranking List. The

Ring of Glory is one of the most valuable trophies in snowboarding and only the winner

of this unique event will get their hands on it. This is the inaugural Air & Style event to

be held in China. Air & Style events have been taking place since the first Air & Style

event in Innsbruck, Austria in 1994.

•The Way I See It: Nestled deep in the coast mountains of British Columbia is a relic

of bygone era. Bralorne is a mining town experiencing a resurgence through a new

generation who have come to play. It is here that the crew from MSP Films have set up

to shoot for their latest ski film, The Way I See It.
