It's that time of year again- temperatures are dropping, snow guns are firing, and yes you heard it right, ski resorts are opening. Sunday River, of Newry, Maine plans to turn their lifts for the public this upcoming Monday, October 19th.

As stated in Sunday River's press release, "With a few days of cold weather on the horizon our snowmaking team thinks they can pull it off by Monday. All plans will depend on weather and snow conditions so make sure to check in right here for updates over the next few days, but our planned schedule will be to open for the day on Monday then move to our regular early-season lift operations of weekends-only until mid-November."

So for all you Mainers and friends in New England it's time to dust off your skis, get a fresh coat of wax on, and pray that temperatures stay down over the weekend.
