Snowbird To Open Friday, Nov. 20

Snowbird, Utah – The 39th winter season at Snowbird Ski & Summer Resort begins Friday, Nov. 20, with skiing and riding on natural and man-made snow. Snowbird will open at 9 a.m. with the Gadzoom chairlift accessing intermediate and advanced terrain and Chickadee accessing beginner slopes; additional terrain will be evaluated as weather conditions permit.

“We’re excited to kick off what is sure to be a fantastic ski season this Friday,” said Snowbird President Bob Bonar. “The combination of recent snowfall, cold temperatures and a promising forecast should help us work towards opening additional terrain during Thanksgiving week.”

Snowbird will be offering the Gadzoom and Chickadee chairlifts to skiers and riders beginning Friday at 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. for Gadzoom, 5 p.m. for Chickadee. The Snowbird Center and Creekside Lodge will be offering food, merchandise and equipment rental options throughout the weekend.

A series of storms are forecasted into next week along with cold temperatures that should accommodate snowmaking. Last year, Snowbird received 621 inches of The Greatest Snow on Earth® and had a 195-day season with skiing and riding from Nov. 7 to May 31, the longest in Utah.

Snowbird is offering an early season ticket price of $52. Early-season lodging and lift packages are currently available starting at $99/person through much of December by calling (800) 232-9542 or visiting http://www.snowbird.com.
