WE ARE TAPPED OUT: THE 11TH ANNIVERSARY POWDER VIDEO AWARDS & READER POLL PRESENTED BY VERIZON WIRELESS AND SAMSUNG CONCLUDES WITH HISTORIC RESULTS

Cattabriga-Alosa, Eliassen & MSP Take Top Spots for 2011 PVA's

A mob of skiers and industry elite descended upon the Wheeler Opera house for the first time in PVAs history and "cranked it to eleven." The Awards, hosted by the Powder senior editor Mitchell "Radical" Scott, introduced a new crop of rising skiers and continued to award veteran favorites.

For the first time in the Powder Reader Poll's 11-year history, someone other than Seth Morrison or the late Shane McConkey has taken the top male spot. Tom Wallisch edged out second and third place competitors, Seth Morrison and Sage Cattabriga-Alosa, and came in first place this year due to voter record high voter turnout, with readers casting two and a half times more votes than ever before.

Sage Cattabriga-Alosa claimed the top spot for Natural Air, with a flat-3 over a giant crevasse in Petersburg, Alaska. He also won the Samsung-Verizon Best Male Performance for his segment in TGR's Light the Wick. "I thought I had one of my best years I've ever had," Cattabriga-Alosa said. "I think [the award] takes a well-rounded aspect, and I think what got me there was the big mountain gnar that I've been doing."

Cattabriga-Alosa also won Best Male Performance, Best POV and Best Line in 2009, Best Powder in 2006, Best Male Performance in 2004 and Breakthrough Performer in 2003. This is his sixth year placing in the Powder Reader Poll.

The Samsung-Verizon Best Female Performance went to Grete Eliassen for her part in her signature movie Say My Name. She has been a regular favorite in Powder Reader Polls, and won she Best Female Performance in 2007.

Best Documentary went to Eric Iberg's Like a Lion, the personal and raw film done on Tanner Hall's life and skiing career. "This is one of the biggest years [Inspired Media] has had," Hall said, "It's great to be recognized for the countless hours put into the film. It's so controversial and different and it's being perceived as one of the best ski movies."

Level 1 athlete Ahmet Dadali won his first two Powder Awards tonight with the The North Face Breakthrough Performer and Best Jib award for a technical s-rail transfer in Level 1 Productions' Eye Trip. "[The winch] pretty much revolutionized urban for everyone. Now you can look at something and do it because you have the speed," Dadali said. The film showcased his hyped-up urban skills but also showed the beginnings of his progression to park and backcountry jumps.
