OK, I got my first tracks of the season a little later than many, but it was definitely worth the wait. I didn’t make it up to Breck for opening day on Friday to try the Breckberry French Toast, but they did get some good snow on Friday and it was still really nice on Saturday.

As expected it was pretty crowded, but for opening weekend I didn’t think it was unbearable.  Especially if you hiked up to the Contest Bowl.  There were a good number of people hiking up, but way less than were on the runs below the Colorado Super Chair.  I have to say, I don’t usually get powder turns on my first run of the season, so this seems like a great omen for the rest of the season.

I did get to check out the new Ski Hill Grill and T-Bar at the base of Peak 8.  I thought both were pretty great. There is tons of seating at the grill and the food looked pretty good.  The T-Bar was a lot of fun and will provide a nice Aprés ski scene.  The music was pretty damn loud, and it was a good time. Nice start to the season!
