Head for a Beating at Silverton MountainAspiring filmmakers face off to win $500 cash, K2 Pontoon skis and a tour of Studio 411 November 26, 2007….The Beating Film Festival in Silverton, Colorado has quickly gained a reputation as a must do on the winter calendar.  The Beating was designed to be the “core” version of “The Meeting” (held in Aspen) where the big budget ski & snowboard films of the year premiere.  Anyone and everyone is encouraged to submit a 5 minute (or shorter) film to the Silverton Film Fest. The Beating was created with the low-budget underdogs in mind but the sponsors and prizes are totally pro. The Viewer’s Choice winner will take home $500 in cash from NossaTV. The Best Overall winner will spend a day at the Studio411 headquarters (seen on FuelTV) in Los Angeles and will meet with members in every division including business development, distribution, sales and marketing for an exclusive look into the business side of action sport films. Other prizes include editing software from Final Draft, K2 Pontoon skis, and loads of free gear. To be eligible for the $500 online viewer’s choice award filmmakers must also submit a second data DVD with the film in uncompressed .dv format to NossaTV directly. The films will be ranked by a panel of industry big-wigs and based on three primary factors: Creativity, Entertainment Value, and Quality. Films that make a lasting impression will be the winners.  The Beating is brought to you by Freeskier Magazine, Snowboard Magazine, NossaTV, Studio 411, K2 Skis, The North Face, DaKine, Black Diamond, Backcountry Access,  Final Draft editing software and Silverton Mountain and many more.  A portion of the proceeds are earmarked for the Andy Calloway Scholarship to help raise money for Silverton Mountain’s High School ski program. Andy was a 7th grade snowboarder who loved riding at Silverton Mountain, who died in a tragic accident. The viewing and judging will be held at the Silverton Mountain Miners Theatre (1069 Greene street, 2nd Floor) on Friday January 4th, 2008 at 7 pm. Edited and polished films should be delivered in DVD format December 14 (don’t forget holiday shipping delays). ###
