It?s only October and it?s already time for high school seniors to start thinking about college. Windells Academy president, Mike Hanley, invited seniors to visit the University of Oregon where they took a campus tour and got a look into the everyday life of a college student; exploring dorms, people watching in the courtyard, and even attending an Oregon Ducks football game (UCLA was dominated by the way). Go Ducks!

For students such as Michelle Lu, from British Columbia, this was an eye opening opportunity into the college experience. ?This was my first time to a college campus and it was beautiful! There were so many different types of people. It?s cool how everyone was doing their own thing,? said Michelle about her first impression of UO. The campus tour allowed for Windells Academy seniors to check out both the living and educational facilities of UO. With a beautiful fall day and a 295-acre campus to explore, there was much to see and do at the University.

Visiting colleges and taking part in the campus tours are important steps to choosing the right college. Location, universities vs. private institutions, and price are just a couple of things to consider when applying for admission. Windells Academy provides the opportunity for students to visit college campuses and begin thinking about what environment best fits their needs. ?This trip wasn?t just for students who wanted to attend OU, but for all of our seniors to start thinking about college and getting excited about it,? says Hanley. At the end of the day, Windells Academy students joined 60,000 Oregon Ducks fans at a home game and cheered them into victory, beating UCLA 60-13.
