East coast vs West coast

Yes the western US has big open resorts with good snow, and they are producing some good talent, and the east, with ice landings, almost all man made snow, not nearly as progressive parks.

Although west has the fame, anybody notice that most of the future talent that we know of are coming from the east coast.

For instance fromt he east we have:

Tom Wallisch (Pennsylvania)
Phil Casabon (Quebec)
JF Houle (Quebe)
JP Auclair (Quebec)
Dale Talkington (Vermont)
Clayton Vila (New Hampshire)
Sean Jordan (New Hampshire)
Nick Martini (New Hampshire)
And more

I know there are many talented young skiiers from the west too, but when you look at the setup and conditions in the east these guys made the best of it and look at where they are now.

id like to start off by saying that i am an east coast skier and have only been out west twice. once to steamboat and once to Jackson.

The West undoubtedly has better snow and terrain then anywhere on the east coast.

West coasters have more opportunities to go big and develop backcountry/powder skills than eastcoasters. that doesnt mean they are better skiers.  If you took a west coast skier and brought them to the east coast they would have a difficult time skiing on the conditions out here compared to where they come from.

east coasters on the other hand grow up used to the shittiest conditions skiing on ice all the time. Yes east coasters typically spend more time in the park then west coasters but everyone here isnt just a park rat.  Areas like jay peak and stowe and the presidential range as well as a few other places have terrain where it is decently challenging.  Although it doesnt compare to the west coast at all skiing tight trees in the east with ice definately does help develop skiing skills outside of the park. 

From my experience, when east coasters go out west, they have more balls and will attempt things that many west coasters wouldnt consider simply because of the conditions. 

In conclusion. The west coast definately has better terrain then the east coast but the east coast definately produces more well rounded skiiers with better potential of becoming big and a larger skill base since they can ski anything in any conditions.

umm i was in steamboat from christmas to new years last year and the parks were empty. i forget the names but the park down in the base was littered with people going off the sides of the boxes (understandable considering it was holiday break) but even up in the park next to mavs superpipe there was like 2 people throwing down both 17 range, at my home mountain, seven springs, yesterday i saw 10-13 year olds doing double switchups on the 15 foot box.

this could be faulty information but from my expirence i didnt see anybody doing 5s really lets alone 11 yr olds in the parks doing anything more than a skier slide.

once again not saying your wrong just when i was out there it wasnt anything amazing in the parks
