I am ashamed to be an american. There are hundreds of things wrong with the USA but i will focus on just two. The first being the envioronment. Global warming is no joke so if you belive that its just am myth you are either misinformed or you are an idiotic biggit. As Americans we use 20,680,000 barrles of oil every day! That means the US emits 65142000 gallons of co2 emmision per day. What does this mean? It means don't be an asshole and ride your fucking bike to work instead of taking that huge gas gussling truck in your driveway and driving it 10 miles. Also YOU DON'T EFFING NEED A 15 FOOT LONG 3 TONNE TRUCK. The american dream is over. That is the plain and simple truth. We no longer live in a land of plenty were you can use as much oil electricity and water as your obesse cholestorol clogged heart desires. If global warming continues at the rate it is at skiing will be none existant in Colorado in 30 years. If it continues Florida will be submerged, the west will turn into a huge dessert. Oh yeah! and another thing if any of you live in Nevada or California THERE IS NOT ENOUGH FUCKING WATER FOR YOU TO HAVE AN 18 HOLE GOLF COURSE AND A HUGE GREEN LAWN. Get over it. We don't have enough room for curing AIDS or cancer because we are already over populated. It sucks but as a race we cannot afford anothe billion people on this planet raping the earth for their convience. So on the subject of Global warming i challenge you to have the balls to reduce your water and electricity use. Go to a Tea Party meeting and have the balls to tell all those people who think Global Warming is Al Gore's fantasy that they are blind to the truth and that their ideas are outdated and that they need to get their heads out of their asses and stop ruining my fucking powder days.

The second reason why i am ashamed to be an American is our corrupt, money obsessed society. Politicians are so open to bribes and lobbying. It makes me sick. Also how congress cannot pass a bill for the greater good to save their lives because OF THEIR MUTHER EFFING POLITICAL PARTY. We can't even pass a bill to provide first responders to 9/11 with health care because the president is a democrat? ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? I think the only solution to fix our goverment is to wipe it clean and start over, and while your at it make it a requirment for congress that you cannot be an asshole. I guess i aim too high for the government because it is human nature to be greedy bastards. But i urge you to save the environment. What we are doing to the Earth is like selling a beautiful daughter into prostitution. I urge you to post something simular to the first paragraph anywhere were it will get read. Its just bullshit that people aren't trying to stop Global Warming. Please try to help so that you can teach your kids how to ski not just tell them about when it was still possible.

1. I pull my jet ski, dirtbike trailer and snowmobile trailer up to the mountains. Go through snowy mountains from about 5500 feet able sea level to 10000 feet. If anyone knows I-70 from Denver to Vail they will know it's nice to have 4x4 in the winter.

2. The truck pictured only has 125,000 miles and my OLDER truck that I traded in for the NEW WHITE ONE PICTURED had 256000 miles on it. That was a 2001.

what can you do about it? stop littering, tell assholes to stop littering. pressure your politicians to make environmental issues important, if they are already not. give a damn about the issues, find solutions, create merit programs, energy efficiency solutions, don't waste water or food. apply ethics to your mentality. research how you can make changes, and don't expect everything to be handed over on silver platters because i don't need to do all the work for you.

you know i've actually noticed the change in colors in the st-lawrence river. i don't know if i'm a lunatic(potentially) but i noticed it went from murky brown, to kind of flowing river brownish blue.

you're not the only human on this planet, you do not come first all the time. it takes billions to make it work, and if we all worked together (GRANOLA HIPPY COMMUNIST SOCIALIST FEMINIST) then everything would turn out gravy and we'd all have poutine for dinner. compassion never killed anyone, unless they voluntarily saved someone's life, and you know, they have more respect than lazy people.

So we figure out how to filter that water. You know that nuclear waste is simply plutonium contaminated water, right? It's not the glowing green sludge the media would have you believe it is. Anyway, the amount of power output from Nuclear plants far outweighs the 20 tons of waste they put out PER YEAR. Better than the thousands of tons coal burning plants put out per year.

I agree with you that hydro is a very safe and reliable way of creating energy. But in your post you contradict yourself completely.

Hydro also happens to be incredibly expensive and can only be used in certain areas. Not to mention the environmental damage caused by damming a river.

People need to just stfu about renewable energy until it becomes affordable. In 10-20 years the technology will improve and it may be more cost effective to have a solar farm rather than a coal plant, but until then, shut the fuck up.

I do not give a shit about what the media portrays nuclear waste as, i am concerned that if the U.S. was to compound our use of nuclear energy it would mean ecological disaster in primitive areas of Utah and Wyoming. If you want nuclear power than you should be responsible for storing it where it gets used. We already have to fight against every imaginable exploitation of our resources.

There are vast amounts of uranium rich rock in Utah and Wyoming. It is also very arid in those same areas. If you have enormous mining operations in those areas it will turn them into deserts unsuitable for most life. Which is why i said, "RIP primitive world of Utah and Wyoming." Destroy the crust destroy the ecosystem.

The exclusive use of nuclear energy would have a far greater impact than the impacts deemed likely as a result of climate change.

I don't know how many of you know this, but you can filter out coal ash and pump the emissions into the soil and use it as fertilizer to grow plants. The only problem is what to do with the coals ash. Of course you have to deal with the problem of removing mountain tops to get to the coal, but don't forget that mining for uranium rich rock presents the exact same problems.

The issue is not how cheap it is, but rather the affect windmills have on birds of prey. Any area in the intermountain west that is that windy and that open will have an assortment of hawks and falcons riding the wind hunting for prey. They hoover and them get taken out by the windmills, shit happens all the time. I watched a red tailed hawk get taken out by a windmill just outside of mountain view, wyoming. shit was sad.

That makes more sense. I say that because nuclear plants put out exponentially more power, less waste, and are easier to support environmentally than fossil fuel plants, a switch is definitely needed. As for the mining, I don't enough about mining to comment. I do know that we're blast mining the shit out of Pennsylvania and other coal rich states, and that needs to stop. Wind, solar, and tidal plants are not viable solutions, so what are we left with?

I think we need to diversify, use all we have so that no one resource is over used. I have no problem with nuclear energy, but i have a major problem with its exclusive use. Same with coal and hydroelectric power. All methods need improvement.

the tar sands are in north america, and the point i'm trying to make is that there's not just america that's a problem. there's disgusting shit in south american, asia, africa, everywhere and they make as much of an impact as we do if not more. a lot of you don't see the big picture, you seen your suburban forestry and not the global scale of the problem. you don't see how much of the planet is being destroyed in all it's forms.

i have no idea what comes from that huge aqueduct in california, but the view of it and the brown shit it spews into the ocean isn't exactly settling. nor is the view of las vegas which is just square miles of grey.

I may have worded my post a little strong but i still totally agree with all my points except i am having doubts if humans are the sole source of global warming. I did a bit of reasearch and now i see that the Earth does warm and cool periodically. Man may not be the only thing that causes global warming but there is no doubt that we rape the environment for a prophet. If you don't agree with me i can walk 3 minutes from my computer and take a picture of what used to be a forest on a hillside that is now a ravaged scab. Also if you don't think water is an issue in the west you are misinformed. I live next to that reservoir that alows denver to be a city and water is no joke. I think after the Charmanders said what they had to say this thread turned into a super interesting disscussion that acctualy has some content. This thread acctualy makes you think instead of the normal but hilarious crap on NSG.
