So my harddrive got wiped...

all 143 gB of it. man am i ever furious, or at least i was. now i'm just depressed. goddamn viruses. all i can say it watchit boys. don't download anything at this point in time. i went on limewire and downloaded a zonealarm update, and after i restarted my computer... bad news.

well i had two computers in my room, but one was a mac anyways. i've only got 1 pc, 3 macs, so yeah. bad news. especially never having to worry about virus control until i needed a pc for school this year. shitty.

that sucks man, i once got this trojan virus thing, the mother fucker was literally controlling every aspect of my computer, writing shit on aim..... opening cd drive, printing shit, making porn appear, once he even turned the screen completely black when i was on and wrote in red "welcome to the matrix"

safe to say if i ever meet a computer nerd/hacker im slamming a computer over thier face

2 weeks ago i got my 160gig harddrive fried from a virus and not only did it wipe everything out but it also destroyed the whole drive (made it unusable) so that was 130$ gone

that happened to me once, i downloaded this crack for a game and when i ran it, this huge smiley face popped up on my screen instead and it started to deleted my entire Windows folder, so I drove headfirst at the power socket and ripped out the cable, restarted, windows replaced all the destroyed files and it was all good.

My harddrive wasnt affected by a virus, but it was however taken out by a broken something or antoher. One day it just stoped turning. i was pissed. 3 years worht of pictures, Lost.

^ dude, a data recovery place could probably pull those up. pricey, but possible.

I backup all my shit. I have a spindle of CD-R's that I just burn shit to. All my MP3's go onto my Dell Jukebox, all the pictures get burned to CD's. All my programs and Windblows chill on my first 80gb HD, while the pictures and music I choose to keep on the computer chill out on the 2nd 80gb'er. I'm thinking of starting up something to redundantly ghost the images/music between the drives, just in case of HD failure.

With that 2nd HD also, if something attacks the windows HD, I can just pull the 2nd HD and keep my files OK till I can recover the Windows HD.

I'm a bitch about keeping my computer running right.

uhh first off what do you have 143 GB of data for?

i have about 50 movies, 7000 songs, mass software like VB and shit that take up space, and im still only at 75 GB or so.

2nd:

WTF would you download an update for a LEGAL program off limewire. cant you auto update through zonealarm? plus zonealarm is total shit... try sygate personal firewall

143 gB... i dunno... music, movies, everything is stored in uncompressed format. i have a shit load of games too. my combat flight simulator is 15gB alone... and that's not taking into account all the mods and patches.

and yeah, i was downloading a new version *zone alarm pro version whatever* and when i restarted my hd crashed. had to reformat. it was a friggin mess.

Yeah me too. it's funny how people depend so much on computers...

fortunately for me I periodically save my whole file onto a cd-r. programs i'm not concerned about, cause i can just re-install. Our hard drive is apparently gonna blow pretty soon too.. at least that's what the computer guy said the other day.
