Seems like every pro is going which is a shame
to them it seems like an easy bag, i wonder if they’ll face any criticism beyond NS? Has anyone called it out elsewhere?

Theres a bunch of articles mad about them being chosen to host the "2029 Asian Winter Games". But so far nothing about this event because its relatively small.

The baller ass move would be donating all the money to a women's/ lgbtq charity after you win.

All the "real ones" dont compete in comps. They're too busy shoveling the stairs.

The stock photos they used on the cover for skiing and snowboarding are almost more deplorable than the human rights violations

i find it very weird that everyone on that page, not only in the comp but for the advertising to, is white. who are they trying to market to? i’m pretty sure that country is like 90% arab so it’s a-little intresting.
where can i find a list of skiers? sellouts!
If I’m a pro skier scraping by trying to make a living off of my talent. I’m 100% taking that dive for a bag. I highly doubt a lot of these guys even know what’s going on behind these scenes in Saudi, their coaches probably just told them they should go
This reminds me of the LIV golf tour that is backed by the Saudis. People got bashed at first but now most players are being heralded as brave and smart for taking the big bag of cash to ensure generational wealth. Nobody is saying no to a huge amount of money, regardless of where its coming from.
And on the note of people being very upset about taking money from the Saudis, do a quick google search and you will see that many large companies have Saudi funding that are supported by millions of people with no remorse, like Amazon, walmart, Activision/EA, Uber, Starbucks, Carnival Cruises, Costo, the list goes on.
I am fine with these skiers taking the bag, at this point we all know they're trying to sportwash but the athletes can take the money and still not support what the Saudis are doing, just like everyone else is doing.

tinkytwinkywhere can i find a list of skiers? sellouts!
Sellouts??, you're a moron. Tell that to all the 40 plus year old cocksuckers who fucking destroyed the freestyle industry. There all the ones running the companies and working the industry jobs that aren't doing shit for athletes. Hence why I don't work in the industry.
Do you understand how easy it is to get a bullshit marketing job for a ski company. Yet your boss is a douche who is a retired ski bum that does nothing and has zero work ethic. Those are the people who are at fault for what's going on in the industry. I've seen it in person while there eating at expensive athlete dinners yet what did they contribute, Jack shit.
thall's body prolly shutting down with no access to chron
Pretty sure almost every pro is out filming or at jib league right now
Better then turning up in the osama pros would be giving away one pair to the winner as a cultural gift from the saudis to the western world🇺🇸🇺🇸🦅🦅

Big thing in soccer too. Saudis were offering players upwards of ONE BILLION DOLLARS for a single year of playing in their soccer league. You would be a genuine moron not to take that, and ik this ski competition isn't comparable at all, but taking a bag doesn't mean you support their country. Every single athlete is just taking the money back to their home, and idk about golf but nobody is actually watching saudi soccer, the players are just making stupid money for pretty much a lost cause. Eventually the saudis will stop investing so much in sports so athletes should take advantage while they can imo

Yeah I totally left the soccer stuff out, that's like their OG sportswashing, there were rumors that Tiger was offered a B for the LIV tourny. Phil got 700m, Rahm got 600m. Even these no name PGA guys got 100m to play. We're talking about generational wealth, you could support your entire family and your future children/grand children and beyond for their entire lives. You can't blame anyone for saying yes to > 100m.

dude people are going to occasionally say things like "that's a shame" about KSA's little mickey mouse sports events. if that gets you all in a tizzy that's your issue, not WOKE AMERICA blah blah blah

The best part of the money is you are not required to support saudi arabia or live in saudia arabia forever. For soccer its like you just keep your mouth shut, lay low, secure the bag, and leave immediately after your 1 or 2 year contract expires. Also like for soccer the whole campaign is failing so those deals will be gone in the next few years so ride the hot hand now cuz it will for sure be gone soon.

Unless they're already rich.... sounds like you'd sell your soul for the right amount though lol. Not everyone is for sale.

There is a huge difference between being "rich" and having generational wealth. But you're also the guy saying that skiers are "selling out" so your financial advice is probably best ignored.

I agree, dont see this as "selling out" in any way.
alot of pro skiers will not have a profitable career, can't really blame them, hopefully it will be a nice show and some good skiing
all the honkies are just getting mad cause they think the muzzies are going to take over skiing but they really just wanna watch a circus act while they huff sheesha and get suckies from their haram

The term selling out is only used by young/immature people who haven't had to worry about financial responsibilities.

Ha! It's morality, not financial advice. Get off the keyboard and go read "Blood and Oil." Its clear you dont have a problem accepting money from a dictator that centralizes all of his countries wealth for his own behest, or uses slave labor to generate it. Dirty money. Amoral.

OR i've worked for my own money, have a great career that doesnt involve handouts from a dictator, and judge accordingly? Oops!

I do not support what the Saudis have done in the past and continue to do now, but I do support athletes taking advantage of these Saudis and expanding their wealth.
For golfers/soccer players its certainly about generational wealth, but for these skiers attending this event, they have chosen to support their skiing career by participating in an event that pays far more than any other ski event. They're not selling their souls, its an appearance fee and an opportunity to win a solid chunk of cash.

it would be so cool if they invested that hoard of oil money into making their country better instead of wasting it on their greedy royal family or making themselves look better
like seriously the oil mogul states could be so much better if they didn’t have literally the greediest ruling class on earth

Hey man genuine question but have you ever accepted a US dollar as payment before? Because if you think Saudi Money is dirty, wait until you hear about the US Dollar.... or Euro, or pound, or yen, or rupee, etc. etc.
Not saying Bin Salman should avoid criticism for being a trash human but if you've ever voted for a US president you support the same moral injustices you are denouncing. Just saying.
tutipupsi agree with the second part but saudis arent getting taken advantage of here
Its not that the saudis are getting taken advantage of, the athletes are taking the advantage to receive a bunch of money in exchange to just do the sport they already do, no strings attached, that's all i meant.
