I'm in high school and have been skiing my whole life but since last season I've been really progressing and enjoying park. I have some solid tricks rn but want to actually start improving other than teaching myself at the mountain everyday. I was considering competition skiing but I feel like it might be too late to start. What are some alternatives to learn faster and up my game and would freestyle competitions even be something to look into? I ski the east coast for some context.
Look for some open rail jams around you, or try filming yourself and make an edit. Being a comp kid is pricy asf and sounds wack imo.
I make some edits on ig but I haven't done a rail jam yet mostly bc of schedule

Save the clips from reals and make a full edit like 3 min or longer. Trust
It’s definitely not too late to start competing, and this could be helpful if you’re someone who benefits from setting goals and accountability.
But I bet you’d also progress quite a lot if you find some nice skiers on your local hill who are better park skiers than you. Learning from skiers who are better than you and keeping up with them can do a lot to help you progress.
Yea I’ve been trying to go out of my comfort zone and just talk and take laps with park homies and it helps

You don't need to be an academy trust fund baby to be however good at skiing that you would like to be. You need to be methodical about it if you want to get good and stay healthy. Start focusing on eating well, exercise and stretch regularly. Listen to your body when it needs rest and when you can push yourself. Everytime you go skiing, have a list of tricks you can do but need to work on dialing in. Do "X" of each in a satisfactory manner. Then make yourself learn 1-2 new tricks everytime you go out. Identify your incompetentcies and force yourself to work on them. Example, I can't look over my left shoulder skiing switch. That limits me from switch left spins and forces me into a certain approach. Make sure you work on jumps and rails. Have homies film you and be critical of your technique. Focus on doing things WELL.... Not just landing it. Proper technique and getting these things down will help prevent injury, increase your style and be a stepping stone for you to get really good. A lot of this is tedious shit that not many do, but not many are really good at skiing either.
You just need to be motivated, hungry and love skiing. Tons of dudes think they love skiing until they get the chance to do it everyday for awhile and realize they really like skiing but they don't love skiing.
thx man

I checked your insta, at your stage of progression you can get some really good fundamentals going. The number one thing you gotta do is learn everything both ways. It will help you a lot in skiing. Don’t learn a new trick until you have all of your tricks spinning both ways. And everything schoess said.
Also learn how to carve
Haha I don’t carve enough in the park for sure
