Not gonna lie, that shit looks a lot easier than skiing. (In the park). But like, I swear you could put me on a board and I could slide some rails and even spin off them or what not. Maybe I’m being unrealistic but like I cant be the only one that thinks this
i don't know why the hell you would contemplate snowboarding in the first place

When you get old and can’t throw down in the park. Who the fuck wants to ride groomers in the Midwest
SteezyYeeteri don't know why the hell you would contemplate snowboarding in the first place
does it not look fun to you?
Snowboarding learning curve is insane as a beginner. I've never ate shit so many times in my life as day 1 trying to board. Skiing was easy.

Lets not forget freeskiers jacked all the style and fashions from Snowboarding. Especially nowadays. Skiers should be banned from parks again like the 90s
Rails are kinda scary on a snowboard ngl. I hit some mini boxes on one and was scared of slipping out. I could do some mini carves but would eventually catch my heel edge and fall.
Idk I think skis is easier (stopping rotation, landing tricks you have like quadruple the balance, pedalling on rails), you have twice as many edges as a snowboard to work with. Hard to say. I know small front flips on snowboard is the most brain dead trick ever
I snowboarded for 10 years then I thought about skiing. Now I wish I would’ve skied my whole life and learned to snowboard. Haha idk. It’s not that hard and boots are soft. Better for old people I think actually. Less likely to get injured. Same principles really about trusting edges staying forward on rail etc. More people than you think do both I think.
As a kid i built a jump in my yard, learned 360 and believed that snowboarding was easy. When i got to the resort i couldn’t even take the lift. I could only ride straight and ate shit when i tried to brake.
it seems easy, but it really isn’t. I thing skiing pow on snowboard is easier than park tbh

That completely depends. If you surfed/skim board/skate you just go down the mountain with little to no trouble first time.
I grew up doing board sports and was a snowboarder for awhile. Snowboarding always felt more natural to me but skiing was more fun and scared me more. The idea of having to bail forward on skis always kinda messed with my brain
I try to snowboard a handful of times every year. I continue to suck because I don't go enough, even the slightest amount of ice is completely impossible for me to ride, I don't know how you stay balanced in it. Park is completely out of the question. That being said surfing slush in the spring is amazing. Snowboarding in soft snow is pretty easy and intuitive. Someone should find and link that video of Tom Wallisch throwing down on a snowboard in little kings at PC last year.
borrow a buddy's board and rip it, it's super fun to switch. if you're a good skier and have ever stepped onto a board of any kind there really shouldn't be much of a learning curve, at least to be proficient
there are things i prefer about skiing but being able to pop so well and have your 2 legs controlling one board is really nice in ways

Fair enough. I can't ride a skateboard for shit and die 75% of the time I try to skim board lol. If rollerblading and ice skating have any relation to skiing, that must be why I was able to pick that up faster vs snowboarding. I didn't even leave the bunny hill at peek n peak of all places when I tried to snowboard lmao

Eww
Once I could consistently hit the lip properly, sliding rails wasn't too hard on a snowboard. To me, it's definitely not as fun as skis, though. Something about moving your legs independently on a rail is so satisfying. Also 5050s on a board are lame as hell

did those as well never took a ski lesson it was great as you know too.
We watch each other do both do many times we all have a good idea of how to hit stuff and snowboard in general. That goes for both groups, unless your completely ignoring the other cult on the mountain.
I do both and skiing is easier to learn but harder to master. As far as tricks you can't compare cuz its not the same sport. For ex. A back 2 is easier than a back board sameway but 5050's and riding switch is way harder on skis. But pretz is way harder on snowboard. You can't compare them they arent the same sport. Being good at one or the other depends on time put in but skis are easier to ride for sure. I say its harder to master because since ur on 2 skis its an another variable that affects how clean you are and skiing carves involve more technique to master than a snowboard carve (once u learn how to ride it lol)
Catching heel edge on a snowboard gives me nightmares

Switched with my buddy all the time early szn last year caught my back edge and whipped my head back didn’t do it again rest of year lol

fine by me
Did 7 years of SNBD, then got kids and switched to skiing since it is less hustle with them, ocasional bring both to hill it is all fun;
prior powder skis, snowboarding was pure joy in pow, now when skis got wider - who cares

Keagan getting real political lately and I’m here for it
I boarded for years before skiing… couple years on skis and I’m competent in the park. Still scared of that shit on a board. But maybe that’s just me. I love boarding pow and skiing park
Um, this is a skiing website?!?!?!?
Try it, I mostly snowboard. Usually have a way bigger smile on my face.
but no, you are not going to be hitting rails and doing spins out for a bit.
knowing how to shift your body weight with skiing experience helps a lot. But the actual ways you’re balancing is completely different.
I find avoiding slams skiing is much easier since your legs are disconnected and you can kind of counter rotate quicker. Once you loose an edge on a snowboard on a rail you’re slamming not matter what usually.
Head injury’s are feel way more common snowboarding I feel. But your legs and knees are chillin.
idk feels easier to be playful around the mountain on a snowboard
I was able to hit rails on skis / down rails within my first month of skiing.
took me more like 3 months to hit down rails on a snowboard, and that’s with a skate/surf background
And even though I am probably a better boarder than skier, I am much more comfortable hitting bigger features on skis. Hitting big stuff on a snowboard feels pretty sketch in comparison

no offense dude but you just sound like a garbage boarder

sick analysis bud
yeah sorry it's not that i just wanted to tell him he's garbage, i just don't think his input sounds very relevant for most people. he surfs and skates, hit down rails on skis within a month, but it took 3 months on a board? if you can hit a rail on a skateboard you can slide a rail on snowboard in your sleep lol
and he's better at snowboarding than skiing, but feels more comfortable hitting big stuff on skis? none of it makes sense dude haha

i learned snowboarding first then switched to skiing and both were pretty easy to learn for me.
Hey man all I know is matej looks like a monster on board and kleveland looks like a comp bot on skis
beck_shredzi learned snowboarding first then switched to skiing and both were pretty easy to learn for me.
Only issue I had was leaning too far back which I partially figured out towards the end of day 1 but I ate shit wayyyy too much day 1. I didn't really notice a difference goofy vs regular. Speed didn't scare me. Didn't leave the bunny hill tho. That's a sharp contrast to skiing where I just skipped snowplowing the moment my lesson was over as a kid and was able to do a lot more day 1. Probably because I can't balance on skate or skim boards and never really got into park on skiing. That need to keep weight off the back foot is my issue.
Surprisingly didn't fall getting off the lift so I guess I can claim that for skiing and snowboarding lol
I'd like to try again tho. Makes a boring ass hill fun and challenging again.
piss_boyThey can ride onto rails...
I mean we can too …
JITYI mean we can too …
If your doing a 5050
Snowboarding is not hard if you’ve ever ridden any other type of board. I feel like half of the people that ski also skate and that’s why they can pick it up.
Balance is balance, you should definitely be able to carve it’s just kinda scary cuz u have to go so fast to do it and falling is way more painful on a board
