Ah yes I love when an old two lane highway is backed up 4 stoplights, but who cares about locals right??
Sounds like the locals need to attend a City Council meeting

Sounds like city council doesn’t listen, + our city officials are incompetent, thanks for your opinion though! only time they’ve listened is for the proposed 3,000 new homes in a place that is already overly congested and we had an amazing turnout to the protest (which will probably end up being followed through on next year anyways)
Crowds weren't terrible today. Just have to get up early and get a relatively good position in line. Once you escape the base area things clear up quick.

Still shouldn’t have to be waking up at 7 to not wait in line when I live 10 minutes away
bizness is bizness I guess

Its how it goes nowadays dude. It is what it is. Just because you live within city limits doesn't mean you are removed from the pow panic. I got up at 5:30 this morning in salt lake to be at PC for work and skied pow all day long till 3. Lines were shitty at first but upper mountain was ripping and didn't wait in a long longer than 10 minutes with my groups today.

Also 9990 and Peak 5 are the most absolute DOGSHIT lifts to ski on a powday. You have to almost always lap back down to fucking Tombstone which sucks and take another extra 30 mins to get back up. Fuck that noise. At least we skied pow all day off Jupiter lol
The longest lift line I ever waited in was Whitewater and I grew up in Utah and lived there until a few years ago.
IHatePedophilesDoesn't happen when I'm in nelson!

You can get back to 9990 without tombstone if you take the right run
Shit happens when it doesn't snow for 2 months and they sell epic passes for $500. The truth is most of these people are probably "locals" they just come out when it snows.

If you live 10 mins away you should be taking the bus my dude.

You funny bud! Been here for 10 years. Can’t walk a mile to the nearest bus stop in my ski boots every time!
PimpChimpinYou funny bud! Been here for 10 years. Can’t walk a mile to the nearest bus stop in my ski boots every time!
if you been here for 10 years, then you would know there has always been traffic, especially on a pow day.
There are certainly tourists in town this last weekend, but most of our overcrowding on a pow day is locals.
sucks you're not closer to a bus stop, the city keeps preaching public transit but they can't hire enough drivers to have more than 2 busses an hour per line/add more lines.
I went up at like 11 yesterday, wasn't gonna battle the panic for 7" on top of crusty snow, but had some great turns on the upper mountain.

What could the city do here? They aren't going to put a hold on building, they need a legal reason to have a moratorium, they can't just say "hey guys, stop building" just kind of comes off ignorant for you to blame the city here.
This is all 100% Vail's fault and Vail alone should be pumping money into the city to increase busses and fix the infrastructure. But, at a point, they aren't gonna add lanes to the road or stop people from coming into town, we can only hope people get sick of waiting in lines to ski and we lose 15-20% of the pass holders next year.

There has never been this bad of traffic in all of the 10 years, and it is vails fault and vails only. Sell 73% more tickets and that’s why we’re getting traffic. It hasn’t always been like this

Actually, it’s more ignorant for you to be saying someone can build whatever they want. Just because they own the land doesn’t mean they can build thousands of low income housing on it .
I do agree with you that vail should be the ones improving infrastructure but what we’re seeing here is a corporation takeover. Vail bring tourists, city see money, city bow down to vail.
Unpopular opinion: I'm actually liking that PC has kept some lifts closed. It kind of restricts some sections to hiking/touring only which obviously makes it easier to find fresh turns.

building thousands of low income units would be awesome, I think you meant thousands of second homes? either way, pc aint bowing down to vail at all maybe read the news once and awhile.
eheath?? all of the terrain is open what are you talking about
Unfortunately, no, it’s not. Sun peak hasn’t been open this year (not that I care because transitions is gone) and according to the app as of today 34/43 lifts.

They definitely are bowing down, and yes, they are somewhat low income housing 330 out of 1100

I said terrain, not lifts, im aware not every lift its opening, but that dude is trying to say hes poaching PC with his skins in areas where terrain isn't open and I'm curious to where he thinks that is located.

You're bitching about tourists in the first post and now bitching about low income housing? What's wrong with low income housing, if anything this type of housing will actually benefit locals and not tourists so one would think you'd be encouraging those.
It's not just Vail either tho, come to the cottonwood canyons, it's just as crowded if not more and Vail isn't there. I'd also wager 75% of the ski traffic in the SLC area is local. Just too many people living here and not enough lift-serviced area to supply the demand.
Traffic and crowds on weekends/pow days/holidays isn't going anywhere, it's only going to get worse, no matter what policy you think the town could implement, they really can't do shit about it.
So I'd suggest you either make your peace with it or move.
Try other resorts? Vote with your dollar. PC offers nothing that can't be found elsewhere. Especially with Woodard firing up the jumpline and PC shitting the bed on Jump 2 now.

Even all terrain being open is false as well,

That’s honestly true Woodward is better, but vail gives me such a steal an epic pass for $150 so it’s hard to pass that up. Guess I’m part of the problem

Sometimes bringing down an empire requires some sacrifice. If it makes you mad, it's not worth a cheap pass, You'll still pay to be butthurt about something. PC is ok for me personally but not good enough to buy an Epic Pass next year. Brighton has it all for me.

Yea Ikon seems to be the move, how’s the traffic up at Brighton? I don’t go up there too much

yeah the green circles on daybreak arent open, but thats not some unopened terrain that one would skin... you're missing the point of what I'm trying to say, but whatever

while i agree he should just ride woodward, a few park rats not buying epic passes is probably exactly what Vail wants, you're not sticking it to the man skiing a different park, Vail is actively removing parks.
PimpChimpinYea Ikon seems to be the move, how’s the traffic up at Brighton? I don’t go up there too much
brighton probably has the worst traffic/parking problem in all of utah, and its only like 5 days on the Ikon, brighton sells cheap passes for young peeps and college students alike.
PimpChimpinYea Ikon seems to be the move, how’s the traffic up at Brighton? I don’t go up there too much
lmao my guy if you don't like traffic in PC I don't think BCC is the move. If we're talking weekends/pow days, lot is full by 10am on a good day, by 9am on a bad day. And make sure you're out of here by 3-3.30pm at the latest or you'll likely be stuck in traffic from the Solitude exit, and it could take you at least an hour to get back to the mouth of the canyon.
To avoid traffic on the way up on a snowy pow day, you should enter the canyon by 6.30am at the latest, after that you're rolling the dice with high risk of heavy traffic and/or accident getting you stuck in there for hours.
PimpChimpinYea Ikon seems to be the move, how’s the traffic up at Brighton? I don’t go up there too much
Traffic is wild in the canyons but we get up early on weekends and always get a ton of skiing in through singles line, hiking or OB pow days
eheathwhile i agree he should just ride woodward, a few park rats not buying epic passes is probably exactly what Vail wants, you're not sticking it to the man skiing a different park, Vail is actively removing parks.
Yeah I realize that, but as the consumer it's still the only thing you can do about it.
eheath?? all of the terrain is open what are you talking about
I think you misread my comment. All good.

I agree fully with this said statement here. We had a few amazing laps off of Thaynes earlier in the season when it was dumping and with it being closed, it was perfectly-windbuffed underneath with like 10" of fresh and it ripped so well, the best ive had it in years. It was honestly great skiing that without it being a fucked-up mogul field.
But yeah Jupiter is the move always when it snows. Never ever ever had a bad day up there.

Could you get your heli license so we can skip traffic and lift lines and fly up there?

Spent all last year driving one hour with NO traffic, snapping in, and getting immediately on the lift.....id struggle with that line
