I pretty much only ski groomers but love hitting the tiny little side hits, thinking about getting into park, any tips/advice. Thanks.
Don't side jump the rails lips or stand on landing zones. Otherwise push yourself but also know your limits. If your hill has a little or progression park, use it. You'll learn far more there than trying to hang out in the big park.
Try new things a tiny bit out of your comfort zone, once comfortable with it move to the next step that might be a bit uncomfortable again. Next thing you know you are doing cool things.
Same, I can do a bunch of tricks on tramp. I’m more of a big mountain skier. So new to rails, I did a pipe pretty well on fell once in like 20 hits, didn’t make it all the way and didn’t come off clean. Looking to backy, misty 5, cork 7, rodeo and switch rodeo at least this season. But still working on it and stuff so ya. Good luck to you, just take it slow I’m still new to but have some more experience
If I could give you one tip, find a rail really low to the ground wether it be a small flat rail, pvc, or tube and hike that shit for hours. It’ll pay off. Goodluck brotha!
Also check out Stomp It Tutorials, Bag O Tricks, Tanner Blakey, and Ski Addiction on YouTube. They all have very good tutorials on rail tricks and learning how to hit features.
Don't be scarred to ski park. People get intimidated or embarrassed when they are learning. Just remember as long as you are nice and don't snake people, everyone will welcome you. Start in the mini park or small side if your mountain has it. Just commit. Everyone fall a lot when learning. Don't be discouraged and keep trying. Watch tutorials and ask people for advice. Good luck!
If you're going to get a pair of skis I'de recommend anything that isn't Gilson, they're making some really lame looking graphics.
Almost everything in the park is easier with speed. If you can’t get a trick, go faster and see if that helps
If you really want to get good at rails, just hike. You’re not gonna get good by hotlapping the park.
Also always learn everything both ways, ESPECIALLY for rails. Jumps just try to learn a bit on your bad side if you’re lazy.
Watch non-stop ski tutorials (stompit tutorials, ski addiction, empire tutorials) and record yourself so that you can self coach.
Find some dudes that are better than you and ski with them, it helps you send stuff. Good luck!
Learning any new trick is uncomfortable, and you need to enjoy this to enjoy park skiing (imo). Also, start out small - tutorials like "stomp it tutorials" (on youtube) are great for beginners!
Read the instructions then cross the gate! There ya go! Congrats! You got in the park!
Don't.

The first thing is safety. Make sure you know where to stop and where not to (landings, takeoffs, etc). Start small. learning how to slide a flat box sideways should be pretty much the first thing to do. Once you're comfortable doing that, your next goal should be to hit any street-style feature (where you have to hit it from the side). The smaller the better, ideally a small tube or box. Once you have rail slides down, you have tons of options for what you want to learn next. Slide to switch, lipslides, and front 2s are good options. It's a lot easier when you have friends who are also getting into park. Friendly competition can be super helpful, and your friends can give you useful advice. Don't be afraid to ask other people for tips. I'm sure 99% of people would be happy to give you advice. Youtube videos can be helpful for some people. When I was learning blind twos I found Jake Muller's tutorials to be helpful.
Also, don't be hard on yourself if it takes a while to learn certain tricks. Make sure you hype yourself up whenever you learn/try something new, no matter how small or sketchy it is.
