They added a paywall that makes the next 5 days locked too, just tells you the snowfall, not each days total
Is there any other apps like them that I should try ?

Use NOAA.gov it has snow predictions that are very accurate, rip wasatch snow forecast.
I've been thinking this for the last few weeks, glad someone else feels the same way.
You do realize this is their job and they need to get paid to like…live. It’s like $20 for a year, pay or go to noaa yourself.

The dude who used to do wasatch snow forecast is still a part time blogger for open snow and he probably made more money on adsense with his own website than open snow is giving him... this is open snow trying to make money, which is fine but they're gonna lose a large amount of their audience.

If WSF made more money doing it independently, why would he even bother partnering up with opensnow? I honestly doubt he's making less now.
use 'snow forecast' app. paywall is for the long term forecast. click low elevation, swipe over to the future dates that are unlocked for lower elevations, then click mid mountain or alpine and they are now unlocked. you're welcome.
IDK if this is a thing in the states but it works great in Canada.

Dude has a job as a professional meteorologist, idk if money is his top priority, he probably got sick of maintaining his site and working with adsense and open snow prob offered him a hassle free monthly payment for his services.
Maybe he makes more now, but the amount of traffic he was amassing is usually more profitable if only one person is depending on the revenue, whereas open snow is trying to introduce a subscription model for a small percentage of that audience. Obviously open snow is more than Utah, so thats just a piece of the puzzle for them, but WSF was a pretty popular page and likely garnered decent clicks.
Yea that’s fine. One can claim this move is bad for their business. Maybe it is maybe it isn’t. Claiming they suck because they want to charge for a service is dumb though. If you don’t get $20 of value out of it then don’t pay. I don’t say fuck Starbucks for charging me $3 for something I can make myself. I just don’t pay. OpenSnow with wind guests, smoke forecast, etc I actually find useful enough to not have to dig through other sources myself. If it turns out they can support themselves better through free content + ads I imagine they will switch back.

I'm sure its great for open snow, I was just commenting on the one guy who used to do WSF for free. I think he could make more money on his own, but I dont think hes in it for the money, even tho hes being paywalled now.
If you like it, thats great, I'm sure they appreciate the support. I will continue to keep using NOAA like I have, but I'll miss some of the forecasts/models/graphs but other forecasters post the same shit for free on instagram.
Few years ago, I would always use OpenSnow and be an active voice in the Colorado comments(which is disqus), but ever since they updated their website about 2 years ago, added more pay stuff, and after one of the commenters(who was influential and a ski photographer for a backcountry cat service) was killed in an avalanche, it hasn’t been the same vibe tbh. Was a nice place to geek out on the weather, but now the website is just screwy. It’s also happened ever since Joel had his kid, so he’s definitely looking for ways to make more money. It’s his company and he’s definitely got the spirit and grind, but it just feels like it’s become too monetized.

This right here. I just type in the old google machine “Snoqualmie NOAA forecast” or wherever I’m skiing, really accurate forecasts
Why use anything but NOAA? Most accurate and most detailed forecasts over any other system.
Brian is the best forecaster in Tahoe. His daily posts alone justify the price of OpenSnow for me. I'm happy to pay a bit to support him and his family since he does such a good job.
Forecasts for other regions can be super hit-or-miss on that platform. I guess it just depends on where you live

Brian, Evan, Sam, and Joel are the only bonafide reporters on the site. I mean Joel Gratz was the one who started it all.
