yooo, so im new to newyork state. Im canadian but I go to school in oswego. For ppl that ski here what would be the best resort around? it seems like the biggest three are gore, whiteface and belleayre. Whats the lowdown with each of them??
Check out snow ridge as well in Turin. Small but it's closer to you, they get decent snow and the owner is legit, he used to run the parks at my home hill toggenburg
gore and whiteface are always a safe bet, but for that small mountain kinda feel try snow ridge. their post-season rail jam last year was nuts, highly recommend

yeah ridge is cool if theres alot of snow (which is possible because of tug hill plateau) and they got a cool park. Gore is already open, and condition dependent, can be awesome. I ski at a little place called woods valley its about 400ft vertical change, its small but awesome.

ridge can either be really bad or good conditions, but its honestly worth risking it because on a good day its amazing

I actually skied at woods valley a handful of times when I was in high school. Do they still put on rail jams and stuff?
Gores sick when they have snow. mid week its never busy, they have great steeps and trees its one of my favorite resorts on the east coast and for the size its pretty lowkey IMO

unfortunately their park game has fallen off a lot, no jams or competition in the past 5+ years to my knowledge. BUT, it has been a blast to ski, super upgraded snowmaking and grooming, and they are renovating the whole place and adding 2 new quad chairlifts in the next couple of years.
Fr though gore for pow days, Whiteface for park if you’re looking to drive the extra miles from oswego into the middle of the adk’s

Just went scrounging through my phone and found this. From November 2012 lol. They had a preseason jam I remember it being super fun. I think @theabortionator was there too tbh

yeah i saw a video of that, unfortunately the current owners arent chill about hiking or anything like that. I have been skiing woods since 2010. Basically mr woods started it, passed away, the onleys bought it, then mr woods son bought it back.

I cant remember if we made it or not. But i think i might have. I do remember that around 2011 2012
Gore is one of my favorite mtn layouts. Place is super fun, great terrain. Some of the best tree skiing in the northeast imo. Good snowfall. Parks are always lacking but saw something about arena maybe coming for a build this year.
Whitefave is also a lot of fun but doesn't get as good snow imo. Steepet terrain to rip, less tree skiing but some goods. Slides are sick af. Park has been amazing but depends. Think its been in a down trend recently.
Check out both. Adk region is great.
Spent 20 something years of my life there. Worked at gore for 2 year, west 4 years, oak for 5. I rode whiteface a lot more when i was yoinger. I have a soft spot in ny heart for ny skiing specifically Adirondacks.
Like the others said Gore is dope- I grew up skiing there. When it dumps its super fun and the tree runs are legit (esp over by burnt ridge). Years back they connected the main mtn to the ski bowl which has night skiing so it’s for sure worth checking out. I remember they used to have a small half pipe for a while there
