alright boys. I want something light-weight that I can take off of big cliffs, and hit backcountry booters with out a problem. was looking at this year's CT 3.0 but heard they break super easy. Currently considering this years Armada ARV 106. any suggestions?
there are so many skis out there, but if you're looking at armadas, the white walker is dope, haven't skied it but saw one at a shop and they look dope
Do you as your title suggests and get an elder ripstick 106, who knows could be sweet
Factions CT made after 2019 have been solid(especially the heavier 21 models) so build quality no longer an issue. The new lighter(but similar flex) 2022 versions are being made at the Amer/Atomic plant so again no worries on consistency.
So the 2022 CT 3.0 would be a good option for your use. Armada ARV 106 are pretty stiff playful chargers now that aren’t very light if you’re touring at all with them.
K2 Reckoner 112 come to mind for a light ski that’s not a noodle.
I highly recommend the Fat-ypus M5. It has a full poplar wood core so it is extremely light and the exaggerated 5-point design gives it a low swing weight since there isn't a lot of material in the tips/tails. It isn't a super stiff ski, so if you are hitting big cliffs I'd get the athlete flex for more stiffness. It is the perfect ski for backcountry booters in my opinion. If you need something a bit wider/stiffer, the D-sender from Fat-ypus would also be a great option. Faty-pus construction is top notch, far superior to bigger brands and all Fat-ypus skis have racebase which is very nice. They usually have a big sale at the end of each season if you don't want to buy them full price, but they might not have the size you want... I can't say enough good things about this company!
