Just make sure to round out any existing edges near any missing pieces. If you're just using the, in the yard or random urban fuck it. Edges are overrated if you don't have to turn.
I've been using my ski's with no edges in the middle and it still works so id say go for it :)

Use the busted skis to ski on. Just get some pvc, it will work better. You could try to turn the skis into a rail but with the amount of work it will take and the lumber to get a usable setup it's worth it to buy the PVC. Also assuming the skis are ~ 180 cm, you would end up with a 10'- 12' rail which is pretty short. If you want to do swaps or spins out, a round surface is better than a flat surface anyway.
