I tried some 2s on a few times last season but somehow I couldn't wrap my head around on how to land on the rail properly or where to look when I'm done spinning the 2.
I don't have a video for you guys to analyze but maybe if you could give some 'common mistakes' type help.
So basically, when I do 2s on, I land on the rail and I have most of my weight on my back foot which causes me to almost fall on my side.
But yeah, luckily that hasn't happened yet...
Edit: I'm going skiing next week but I decided to ask for advice in advance so I can get straight to the grind when I get on da snow

which way do you land on the rail after the two on? Natural of unnaty? For many and myself when I spin a natural 270 on I land unnatty. Could help sliding rails unnatty to get your feet under you
I have been very inconsistent at them so take this with a grain of salt. Despite being comfortable hitting rails unnatty and spinning off, I could never land a spin on. I originally started landing them more than 0% of the time when I noticed most pros would look back at the start of the rail in their spin and began to do the same.
I have yet to try this but I noticed recently another thing some pros do (more exaggerated on larger airs) is pre-scissor. I was always told to scissor to stop the rotation but never could time it right. In the Surface Street Cut I noticed they were scissoring in the air (like a small daffy) and I hope mimicking that that will allow me to land 270s on consistently. Hope this helps you as well!

I'm comfortable sliding and spinning off unnatty so maybe it is something else then
some random trick tips i keep in my head when doing 270s in..
rolling into the lip i like to have a lot of pressure on the tongues of my boots, shoulder width apart, knees bent, getting ready for the pop, and confident that im gonna stick the trick
im unsure if other people do this, but I look at two places on the rail when im rolling into the lip. I look down the rail (1) to see where I will most likely land and I also look up the rail (2) to see where I will be spinning over.
while popping up i swing my skis 90 degrees over the feature with my eyes locked on the second position (the position up the rail). I'm pretty much looking directly down at the rail at this point. I feel like emphasizing getting 90 over and having your boots above the rail ensures that you will land smack center on your ski, instead of landing on your tails and washing out. so get over the rail first. when im 270ing in and just smack my tails on the rail and not lock in - i tell myself get over the rail first then finish the rotation.
once over the rail i finish the rotation - i don't really have a trick tip for that- maybe just emphasize using your shoulders and hips to get the rotation around.
at this point in the trick you should be spotting where you are landing down the rail (first position). smack the rail and spank the trick and gtfoutta there
here da video 4 da tip
ps disclaimer: thoughts on watching the video after i wrote this thing.. i'm not that great at 270ing in with little speed and landing early on the rail (to set up for a switch up or a pretzel etc)- this trick tip kinda only helps with sending 270s in down the rail. idk NS u decide

unsure if i double posted but here is more tippage
alright, right here i'm looking directly below at the MF thang. I'm thinking 'get my boots 90 degrees overthe rail' - and really committing to the spin. once i've floated the spin a bit over the rail i finish the rotation - i feel like flexing my core and bringing my shoulders and hips through the spin help me finish the trick. eyes down the rail once through the rotation

Thanks for the reply. I will definitely try this and see if it helps

Thanks for the reply. I think focusing more on keeping the pressure on the boots will probably get the result I'm lookin for since that helped me with on jumps too

It's all about approach angle and commitment. You need to come at the rail like you're gonna slam your front tips into the side if you don't pop. get a nice pop and spin like you're trying to 180 over the rail. Your skis should be directly over the rail facing up hill by the time you're at 180. at that point, when you're still learning, glance down at the rail and I mean glance for like a milisecond to see what adjustments you need to make. If you're about to land on the rail then shifty that last 90 quickly and just know you're going to land with your weight shifted back (which sounds like the problem you're having) so maybe stick your leading arm out to balance a bit. If you're still high above it then just float it on nice and easy. when you feel your skis hit you need to snap your head to look at the end of the rail. eventually you'll get to the point where you don't need to look down at the rail and you can just feel it out and land looking at the end.
IMO: The best way to learn 270s on is to start on a dance floor box / super wide box.
First start by doing back surface swaps to forward. Land on the box with your skis at 90°, then keep your momentum you used to spin that 90° on to continue the back surface swap to forward. Gets these on lock.
Secondly, start doing 180's onto the box. Use your back surface swap experience to spin a full 360. Land switch on the box then surface swap around to forward coming off the box. Get these on lock as well.
Once you're super comfy with the 180's on, start popping harder and adding a little more rotation. Gradually spin more onto the box each time until you're landing on the box at 270°. This is one of those things you'll get if you just hike a dance floor box for an hour. The more you do this the more you'll figure out where you'll need to look to spot and land the trick.
There's no secret formula to 270's on. As much as you try to spot the trick, theres a brief moment where it's sort of blind, and your skis will hit the rail / box before your head / eyes can catch up. The more you practice, to more comfortable you'll get with spotting where your skis will land, and you'll have your skis in position to lock into the feature.
Also, don't forget the T set when popping off the lip. This will help keep your skis and upper body in line so you don't slip out backwards.
Hope I could help!

The key is to pedal on the rail and look to the end of the rail as soon as you can. Try your best to keep even weight on both feet during the takeoff so you don’t land on the rail with all weight on your back foot.
i also had issues learning them, but what helped me was to have the points that have been mentioned earlier. while you start the spin, look at the top of the rail. when you are over 180 in the spin look at the end of the rail.
i kept landing too much on my backfoot, causing me to fall on my hip and taco the rail. to correct it just lean a little forward when you land on the rail.
To add to all of the great advice here, the main thing I focus on when 2ing onto any decent size rail is clearing my tips on the rail and making sure the rotation is confident and flat.... Meaning I don't accidently cork myself onto the rail

Hey all, I’ve been learning 2s on and can inconsistently get them on a pill. I’m now trying to learn on a mellow down tube, but am having trouble. I seem to either only clip the rail with the tails of my ski after spinning 270 or tap my nose right after popping, which messes up the rest. I assume I’m not timing my pop correctly, but I’m not entirely sure and would appreciate any tips, thanks! Here are some vids of my attempts.
edc_19Sorry, don’t know why vids uploaded like that…
youre mostly just leaning too far back, which could cause you to tap your tips on the way in. try to land with the expectation of spotting the end of the rail immediately.
you could also delay your spin a tiny bit by rotating your upper body before your skis.
