I got a hill in my backyard and wanna make my first summer setup this year but I wanna get something cheaper than msnow.
You don't need anything you can turn in on the drop in. Everything from turf, orange construction fence, lattice, pvc rungs etc. Better to have something like turf/carpet at the end if youre trying to edge. Sometimes i feel like you can go off pretty straight regardless, especially in skis.
when i was your age, we'd ask your friends mom to drive us to an ICE RINK to grab zamboni shavings.
Turf, but on the down part put orange construction fence lattice bc it’s quicker. Don’t put it on the lip bc it’s harder to grip

turf is great for the runup and not terrible for the lip. depending on how big the lip is id invest in the small msnow kit and use it for just the lip so you can edge in. lattice, and orange construction fence are also alright for the runup

You cant edge in on msnow. if you plan on only using msnow for some parts of the drop in i'd put it on the down part not the lip.

Msnow feels better than turf or lattice and slides more consistently. I can't exactly edge on Msnow but you sort of can, it's better than turf. Plus it's not like anyone is going to be carving hard on a rail lip, and real park skiers ride with detuned edges. just don't put lattice fence on the lip, Msnow or turf would be way better. If you want to use a small amount of msnow, put lattice fence on the down and msnow in the flat(if you have a flat before the kicker) or the kicker. Also msnow on the down would be good too, just make sure you are sliding on the msnow before your skis hit turf. the wax for the msnow tends to stick on the turf when the turf isn't really wet.

^^^^ also i had an idea a while back of just putting 1'' PVC on the down part and attaching it horizontally in rows, it would slide as fast (if not faster than) as msnow. you wouldn't be able to edge at ALL but itd be fast
