Hello everyone. I’m a senior in highschool and next year I’m heading to the university of Utah for school. I’ll mainly be skiing park city (some urban too) and I don’t know a single person out there. And I’m kinda nervous to show up to such a high level park all by myself. And Ik I’ll meet tons of dudes on hill but I’m wondering if any of u went through similar stuff. And if ur somebody at utah rn who wouldn’t mind another rider in ur crew I’d love to join you. Essentially what I’m saying is I’m looking for a crew to ski with. And post college I’m considering building a crew of riders and making films like strictly and FORRE. So if ur somebody who’s got a similar vision to me then HMU I’m in search of some dawgs.
You'll be alright and you'll find a crew. The U has tons of skiers already or people in a similar position as you. Plus they have some of the best outdoor recreation-based resources for learning and concurrent enrollment programs so you'll come across all types of people from different backgrounds who do the same thing. I'm just now finishing-up my EMT course through the UUCEP and had a good number of kids in my class who skied/toured regularly.
I don't know what it's like to be in the SLC scene, but there are a crazy amount of skiers there so I wouldn't worry about finding folks to ski with. Also it's really nice to spin solo laps sometimes, going at your own pace and exploring on your own.
In uni I used to ride my bike to the ski hill for the first little while. People would see me on their way to the hill with skis on my back and then they'd recognize me and hit me up on the mountain like 'holy shit, you're that dude riding your bike to the hill'. I'm still friends with some people I met that way even though I don't live in that town any more.
Also setting up jibs on campus, people who were into it would stop and introduce themselves or join me.
Going to any movie premieres or whatever will help you meet other skiers too.
OP I totally feel ya on worrying about finding people to ski with, but out west is such a different vibe than out east here, or the Midwest, the people are really f ing cool, nice, polite and talkative, I met multiple people every trip I’ve taken, you ARE going to have an awesome time, congrats and Gluck

You will be just fine. It might be scary at first but just try to stick it out and give it a few months and you’ll find your groove.
SLC has whole crews that rock each resort, you'll find your ppl, or just hit people up on here and they'll intro you
I’m also a senior and moving out to slc to go to the university of utah so yeah

See there ya go, your first ski buddy, told ya that wouldn’t take long lol
freshman at the U rn, I got a few tips:
1. if you are living in the dorms, live in chapel glen or sage. Don't get excited by the new dorms, they may have good amenities but the atmosphere is pretty weak compared to chapel or sage.
2. it will not be hard to find people who ski. go skating, talk to people wearing jiberish and arsenic shit, when it starts snowing go check out bonezone or the pvc parks kids set up on campus. U just gotta keep in mine that no one has found their crew yet and they are all looking for homies to ski with, so everyone is gonna be down to ski.
3. be nice to the kid with a car. They are the ones that are gonna drive you to go skiing.
If you got any more questions shoot me a PM. I'm an Alta kid and it sound like your more into park so i cant help u much with a crew but I do have some PC and brighton homies who rip that I could link u up with.
Op dont be scared you will make like 20 friends from u utah ur first day out in the park.
