Myself and a couple of my mates (from New Zealand) are planning on doing a season in either Fernie or Revy this coming season. Would describe ourselves are big mountain skiers that also love a good apres scene, Where should we be going?
Why not make the trip longer and hit both? Or just hit everything on the powder highway.
Trying to decide where to base ourselves out of, i.e. renting a flat, seasonal job etc
Kicking Horse obv. Best terrain and no chance of rain.
Fernie = Fun Jibby, random fucked deep days, Apres (non covid) is dope
Revelstoke = Really epic terrain, not great for hot laps, rogers pass is amazing, maybe a younger crowd?
Both are great though

This sums it up pretty well, the revy hot laps have been even worse this year with no park ffs
Someday I'll make my BC trip through Fernie Revy and somewhere else I don't know...Someday...
every skier i see from fernie has the most goated steeze
@dylansiggers if you were 21 and went to the other side of the world, had to choose one place within Canada (obviously) fbor the big skiing apres but also finding jobs, accomodation etc, where would you suggest
coming from a few kiwi blokes who can tear
it up on our terrain but will get blown away by what Canada has to offer.

Obvs.
Wouldn’t plan on either. Revy just closed and Fernie is sure to follow.

I would say don't move to Whistler, it's an amazing place and has so much fun shit to do. But it get wildly busy whenever the snow is good. Maybe move to whis if your gonna buy a sled and try to join The Blondes crew?
Revelstoke is a pretty dope contender, easy to access pillows at the resort and lots of people in the same boat you would be in so making friends would be dope. It can be a little clicky, buuuut I think a lot of ski towns are clicky.
Golden, fucking sick mountain, really dead town. But the terrain there is wild for a ski resort and super gnarly. not much for doing any kind of mellow fun skiing, it's more go big or just stay home haha
Nelson, (weirdo) culture hub of BC. Long drive to get to the hill so you want a car there. probably with decent tires cause the town is literally east coast double black diamond steep and it snows a bunch in town. huge nightlife with a crazy range of people. mostly hippies. But whitewater is the sickest place ever. See Sam Kuch
Big White/Silverstar, fuck those places. theres' a park but just move to America if you wanna ski a good park.
Fernie, best place ever, everyone else sucks lolololol
nah but Fernie is really fun, tonnes of fun shit to jump off, we get rain sometimes, but we also sometimes get 60cm overnight that no one forecasts. Theres a bunch of different little shred squads in town and I think? Everyone is generally pretty inviting and nice.
our nightlife scene is pretty dece, it's small and unintimidating but you also get the weekend Calgary crowd if you like partying with strangers. a bunch of homegrown bands in town too. but like, that will probably never happen again with covid anyways...
I'd say go Revy, or Nelson or Fernie
If you want a hell of a winter go to CASTLE MOUNTAIN AB. Shit gets rowdy as fuck. No need to explain. If You’ve been to the t bar at castle you know da vibes.

I don’t think OP is talking about right now but I doubt fernie will close as revy closed because of an outbreak in the staff and they just didn’t have enough staff to operate, big white closed because it has been a covid hotspot in the past and there was a big party a lot of the staff attended in one of the restaurants on the hill. Fernie has been doing well in terms of numbers so as long as something doesn’t radically change or the government closes all ski hills i think it stay open. It closes in like a week anyways

Things sure do blow away at Castle.
Get it... because Castle is windy.
