You'll be teaching kids at the lowest pay in the ski school no matter where you go. Just so you know. Also kind of late in the season to do much.
Idk about the US but my local mountains are only hiring csia level 2+
You need a cert? I got offered a job at my hill for like 13$ and hour and I’d get 9$ chicken fingers and fries plus half off a pass. Butttt I’d be teaching kids at I hate kids. Why tf do people ever want to have children their so annoying and can’t shut tf up. If I was my parents I would have aborted me when they had the chance

DINK life bro. It's the shit.

No I've been teaching at my home resort 2 seasons uncerted but I wanted the cert so I could work at bigger resorts (and get paid more). My home resort gives a 25 cent raise for being Lv.1 certed (so 12.25/hr) but it seems other resorts will pay more.
Level 1 will be teaching kids for sure, bit late in the season to be looking for that line of work now but potentially hit up a few places you'd want to work and see what the deal is for next season.
Bigger resorts will higher more low end instructors to cover the demand for beginner lessons
most big resorts are only hiring level 2+ certs right now but I bet small mountains will hire level 1s for sure right now. I'm currently a level 1 from last season training for my level 2 now. Hopefully I can get it this year and go to Europe in 2022 :)

When international travel opens up and demand increases again that will change I'm sure. You don't pay level 2 instructors to teach beginner lessons, that's a waste of budget
You will be woeking skilled labor with high reslonsibility in a dangerous sport fir a lawyer assigned wage. You will be full time but making $1000 a month. You will get hit by wedge sleds on the bunny hill, drug tested and fired, even if its not your faults. You will get covid.
Level 1 is daycare. But, it was a lot of fun. Ill always be amazed how kids love ski instructors.
Getting a ski instructor job is pretty easy. The smaller the hill, the more they need you. Dont do big resorts on a level 1, you will never find work.
Unlike any other certification, this one doesnt require experience to upgrade. So the best course of action is to upgrade to a level 2 as soon as possible. Thats when you get to do more complex stuff with clients.
How to get a instructors job? Walk up to the front desk with proof of certification and a resume and either they get you working or they put you in a waiting list to never be heard of again
