Anybody still rocking the OG park ski? Something about the shape and color (the yellow ones) scheme of the original Salomon teneighty is just so cool, but I’m guessing most of them were rightfully beat to hell long ago. I’m wondering if it would be worth buying a decent old pair (if I can find one) and slapping new bindings on. I love trying old school stuff I wanted as a kid.

Rock them for maximum stress factor, not necessarily for tech/performance. Skis that old are way different than today’s stuff, the 1080s were all camber, long, and as stiff as Giuliani was in Borat 2

That’s exactly why I’m curious. It’s crazy what dudes we’re pulling on those back in the day considering how rocker is the norm now. But I stand by those late 90s graphics!

It’s all about that relativity homie! For us, “parabolic,” or essentially shaped skis, were a huge improvement over skis like the 1080, which allows us to further pioneer skiing. Back in the day though, the 1080 was a huge improvement over ye ol straight skis, which allowed those guys to pioneer freestyle skiing at the base. What people are doing now is nuts, and what people were doing back then was nuts. It’s all nuts. Skiing is just fucking rad.
Nah but still patiently waiting for that re-release that will probably never come... :(
I know @C_Bechtold was rocking them for a little while last season

Got a pair from a homie. His first park ski. Had to mount them slightly above center. Used them for handrails and pvc for a bit. Now they are my water ramp/ air bag skis.
I tried og orange 1080s yrs ago and it was the worst ski i have ever tried. Felt like it was made out of really hard plastic.
LOL I thought you meant the future spin.
Most of them snapped if they were actually used in the park unfortunetely. I still see them come up for sale once in awhile though, keep your eyes peeled.

thats so sick. wonder how those foam cores are holding up
My dad has an old pair laying around in the garage, maybe we should something with em. Used the bindings on a homemade pair of skis we made so remounting them may be an issue. Glad there's still hype around them, the topsheet's iconic
