My hero 8 black camera battery dies after 1 run almost every time skiing. I keep it in my pocket of my inside layer until I use it, and put it back in after the run to try and keep the battery warm. Anyone have the same thing happening? And amy advice?
Haven’t had this issue have you tried another battery? Like a different one? Gopros can be known for not having the best battery life and the cold doesn’t help that
I didn't have any issues until the last update (firmware 2.50). After that my Hero8 started dying almost immediately. I have two batteries and always keep the spare on close to my body. Additionally, i use a Gopro protective housing to isolate it a bit but it still dies. The outside temperature was in the range between -7C and -20C.

Switch back to the older firmware and hope the next version fixes the issues with 2.50

I believe older firmwares are not available for download.
I have a HERO3 and I bought extra batteries. The original battery that came with it is the best/last longest.
I try and shut if off when I get on the lift and tuck it in my pocket, then turn it back on before I use it each run, because my lift is like 15min long. seems to help.
bought to drop a new pow edit I filmed with it (HERO3) on Monday!
Managed to find several older firmwares for Hero8 (1.2, 1.5, 1.6 and 2.0) and decided to do some testing.
Test scenario:
1. Put the camera in the freezer for 30 minutes.
2. Record a video.
Firmware 2.5:
The battery indicator went from 100% to 99% and then to 0%. The camera died within 4 seconds;
Firmware 1.6:
Recorded 30 second video. Battery went from 100% to 98%. Camera worked as expected.
Note: Unfortunately, I lost all my custom settings during downgrade.
Firmware 2.0:
Recorded 30 second video. Battery went from 97% to 96%. Camera worked as expected.
Conclusion: Firmware 2.5 sucks!
