Home mountain is closed, got some urban clips then the snow melted. Anyone else having a cursed winter? Theres literally no snow in my area and its not supposed to snow for like another week, which still probs wont be enough for urban. Idk what to do im losing my mind someone back me up and tell me how shit ur winter is so I feel better. Or better yet tell me how great it is.
Damn dude that sucks. Do you have a drop in? We used to hit urban in tha summer occasionally with rink snow. Are there any hockey rinks around you where you could load up a truck? Bmdecent drop ins help though. A truck full of snow. A shovel/rake, and a bag of salt can get most rails set up
My winter is far worse than yours. UK in lockdown atm. I only got one week in Italy last season (didn't snow once while I was there). Just entered a new lockdown so this season is over for me too. Not like it snows in England either. Count your blessings.
Opening day delayed 3 weeks and then I tore my ACL middle of winter break

Thats crazy, here in the US the resorts are more busy than ever, its pretty wild.

Ya we’re trying super hard but the features we wanna hit need a lot of snow and its pretty much impossible rn :(

Fuck man thats brutal. Hope u have a speedy recovery
There's nothing else I'd rather be doing than waiting in 2 hour long lift lines for tracked out bowls, but here we are 🥲

sorry if this is a stupid question but what is rink snow? also, wouldn’t salt melt the snow?
brentkimballsorry if this is a stupid question but what is rink snow? also, wouldn’t salt melt the snow?
At ice rinks the zambonie resurfaces the ice and collect ice shavings. They will dump outside depending on the rink. Rinks in cold weather places tend to have melt pool inside.
It’s does melt but you could get a truck load of ice shavings and bring it to a setup or rail. Gives you a session depending on the weather.
I can count on one hand the number of times its snowed here in my part of Wyoming. I feel ya bud. I've been skiing shit snow and groomers(getting real thin)all season so far.

Not relevant due to lockdown but does anyone in the UK ever ski in Scotland? Obv if you're in southern England you might as well just go to the alps but it seems like everyone in the UK just pretends Scotland doesn't exist. Ik its not great but it looks kinda cool and if I lived there I would definitely want to ski in my home country at least once

I've totally considered it, but I'm a bit of a pussy and it actually works out that the drive is longer up to Glencoe where I'm at than it is to literally drive to France using the eurostar (well, it was before Brexit who the fuck knows now) where I can access a large chunk of the alps as opposed to a pretty mediocre mountain comparatively. However, since our EHIC cards expired with brexit as well, meaning I'll have to pay my own ski insurance in the EU, I might be skiing in Scotland from now on anyway. Brexit sucks.

I skied in Scotland once years ago, it was the coldest wettest most miserable experience of my life. The snow was all windblasted with really shit pistes, strangely I've not been back since. I'm supposed to be in the 3 valleys this week but that's been cancelled, and the Feb half term trip although not officially cancelled yet has no hope of going ahead. We can't even go to the snowdomes or dry slopes due to lockdown in the UK so a pretty shit winter so far.

Just moved to Inverness last November, I plan on skiing somewhere here at least once maybe a few times once these lockdowns let up. My main plan is to go to Europe when travel bans lift and hit the Alps but right now we cant go anywhere. I am still waiting on our container to show which has all my gear but once it shows I will at least be building some rails of some sort to slide. Hope to post picts once it happens.

Of course you'd rather be outside, but PC has been so busy and with limited terrain, most lifts are at least 10 min and some are 20-30 min on the weekend, it's not worth it for how shit the conditions are currently.

eheath don't even dude. My mountain's lines are all 30 min every weekend, and we don't even have a park rn. There's two rails set up but that's it.

Sorry to boomer out on you but I used to wait in lift lines for 30 minutes to ski 600 feet of man made ice. IMO if the lift gets you up faster than walking you have no right to complain.

It was moreso to express how busy it was, which is completely reasonable to complain about, I could just ski somewhere else but thats not happening this year

I will say line anxiety is at an all time high with covid and people not keeping distance in line
In PA it snowed plenty in December but hasn't snowed since. Our main park is mint right now and the XL booters could open as soon as MLK weekend. Lines have not been too bad since they limited ticket sales.
Very icy and shitty on groomers because it's all unnatural snow.
bad snow in chicago... my setup is suffering. today was hella warm and prolly killed it until it snows again

At least you can drive to other mountains.

I feel you bro, here in Canada, my province locked down just as the resorts were starting to open. Looked like they were gonna open next week, but they've extended the lockdown. Don't think anything here is going to open until next year.

Based on this I won’t be surprised when Joe somehow shuts us down too.
