Visiting my friend out there for a week, anyone know about the parks or any must ski spots?
They are hurting for snow like many others in intermountain west. I’m planning a weekend out there at some point and am just waiting for winter to get here.
Absolutely do not miss out on Strawberry Hot Springs.
Meh, it’s like damn Disney land full of Texans and people all over. Don’t you have to pay for that one too these days?

Yeah you do, but it is so sexy there
I guess it’s the only hot spring close to Steamboat to get your sexy on. If ya live in the west, keep exploring. I’ve been to dozens of hot springs where you or your party is the only one there. Just got to be up for an adventure or hike.

Was just there the other day, and I gotta say I'm a little disappointed. It's completely overrun by jerries at the moment, perhaps because they don't require reservations the same way other resorts do. They're hurting bad for snow, and 6" was skied off in about an hour from opening. Not to mention it's total hell trying to get out of the base since they can load 4 people max in the gondola, and your other option requires at least 2 lifts with hefty lines.
The park looked alright and it has its own lift, so if you stick to that you'll be fine, but anything else worth skiing is either closed or a pile of sticks and rocks.
Normal years golf course laps of pony express would do you right but I would not fuck wif dat now

If only someone could have foreseen this upcoming Ikon induced shit show.

Years ago someone had a heart attack and died in the water late at night, so the body was just floating and no one could see it because the place is unlit. Just chillin in the springs with a floater.
Steamboat is a decent mountain but its not very steep and has a pretty low elevation with like 6900 ft base and 10,000 ft summit. Its kind of like an east coast resort. The tree runs are pretty good but overall its not a very steep or challenging mountain. I think it caters to a line of rich people who arent that great at skiing.
sun valley is a nice resort too and had good snow when i was there. The mountains in the area are very pretty. The vert is like 3400 which is decent but the base is like under 6000 feet so it gets pretty slushy near the bottom in spring when i was there.
Hit steamboat yesterday. The trees under the chutes was some of the best snow I've skied in a while
its actually illegal to ski park in steamboat unless u buy the steamboiz a 30 rack and an eighth. youll get fucked up if u try to dip on it
Just got back from there!
-snow pack is meh- harder terrain is better off cause not a lot of people there ride it
- the back bowl/ hike runs are very fun
-tree skiing!
- parks were alarmingly fun: lots of rails/ tubes, a jump line, mini pipe etc.
- golden leaf is the best dispensary for bud, billo has the best concentrates tho
- gondola joes is an alright cafe next to the gondola, the baristas looked like typical steamboat trustafarians and the coffee sucked but it was a nice place to link friends and hop on the gondola
- the free lot may say it’s full but there’s always a person who leaves after an hour or two so if you’re pulling in late go peep it anyways and there’ll usually be an open spot or two.
- steamboat is mostly boomers and they DO NOT LIKE WEED. They can and will kick you out of the resort if you smell or appear “too high”. I smoked a J at my condo before going one night (I’m of legal age too so not even illegal) and got stopped by a resort security AND a real cop before getting on the lift, it ended up being a huge pain in the ass- smoke in the back bowls or just bring a dab pen on the gondola but be very careful if you plan to piff and ski. If I’m caught again or get another substance related incident at steamboat I’m banned from ikon (apparently) so they really don’t play.
*never ever goes to steamboat for life*
