This has been big around me, especially with my coworkers. People with 50+ days huffing, “well I better get a fucking refund!”
you got your moneys worth, at least according to the resort
I'm seriously getting pissed at people that are keeping their head in the sand about this. This isn't a flu this spreads fast and kills fast. Stop complaining about the fact you can't go to the movies or go skiing. Read up get educated.

This is kinda rediculous folks complaining about their season passes. You've had 3 months, some more to ski already. Too bad. Fucking unreal. Every resort IG post has these comments in the sections below

yeah this. everyones like high-tailing it to the desert and to go camping which is like i kinda get why some people want to live out that "run to the hills" fantasy with a sorta apocalyptic feel right now but at the same time, youre abandoning your community and choosing to abandon people you care about which is kind of telling if shit actually does get real bad
Go to the "buy your ikon 20/21 pass" post on the 14th and click on the shit Scott Abraham is posting. This boomer mad:
Idk how you solve this problem? We all are mad that we missed out on the rest of our season, but we also don’t want to hurt the people who make skiing possible. Some people probably haven’t even used their pass yet this year, possibly waiting for a end of season trip. These people are deserving of a refund, but if you got to your break even point how can you complain? It sucks that the season ended the way it did, but there isn’t much they can do about it.
We all buy our passes at our "own risk". Some resorts offer and extra option for insurance on your pass in case you get hurt, or if the weather doesnt agree, in this case a virus going around. I agree, quit bitching and suck it up and lets do our part to try and minimize the spread of it.
I think the most important thing for the ski community, or any community, to do right now is to be kind to each-other. Overnight people lost their jobs, their dream vacations or their favorite sport that holds them through the winter. While I agree that for most, a refund is asking far beyond the scope of any monetary loses burdened onto the consumer, I do however think it is unfair to generalize that every skier has had equal opportunity to get out to the mountains, or the ability to sink the cost of a lost pass. For myself, I have gotten in my eyes my moneys worth from my aspen season pass, it still might have been cheaper in retrospect to get day passes however this isnt a time to count pennies. On the other-hand I purchased a season pass for a somewhat local mountain out east to do some spring skiing. At the time it seemed like the most economically viable way to ski throughout this season as much as possible. Now with the closure of this mountain, I have yet to be able to use this pass even once, never even picking it up from the ticket office, however the mountain refuses to offer any kind of compensation. While I agree with the general message of this thread, certain assumptions can be harmful for people of differentiated vulnerability. It is not the worst thing ever if I cant get this money back, however, for some, or even many, this situation could pose an extreme challenge.

Do you?
71 deaths in the USA, almost all within a very small, already at-risk cohort, and we bring the largest economy in the world to a halt, and run literally panicking through the streets buying up food and creating an artificial shortage. People in Wuhan are already returning to work and the rate of transmission is decreasing. As testing in more countries increases, the morbidity rate continues to drop, bringing it closer to what it is South Korea (who is doing the most testing), which is 0.9%. With 327M people in the US, it is essentially a mathematical impossibility for you or I to contract and die from the virus.
Like I said, a giant nothingburger.
If it was a nothing burger the whole country wouldnt come to a halt.
And they are returning to work after almost 3 months of being under quarantine. That's really nothing at all.

They need to make a documentary on this whole fiasco and call it:

It’s a season pass, meaning you can ski from opening day to closing day. If you have specific days you want to use the pass, that’s your problem. Buy lift tickets if you are dedicated to specific days, that’s what they are for.
I have no problem with refunding tickets sold for specific days that are now unusable. There is no reason to refund anyone’s season pass for “loss of days”.
It’s unbelievable man. People are so entitled, it’s maddening.
not to mention, pretty sure areas don’t issue refunds via Instagram, so show a little tact, wait a week or two, and they’ll do right by people.
people act like they’re entitled to that money yesterday.

And it’s almost always the boomers with a shit ton of disposable income, but a lot more sense of entitlement. Ski area and industry people are relieved and thankful. The dumb ass comments and backwards rhetoric is nauseating.
Seeing areas allow uphill access to current uphill pass holders is cool....maybe questionable....but seeing people bitch about not being able to get one now is a unbelievable.
you’ve had 4 months or more to get an uphill pass. Issuing them requires staffing and needlessly exposing staff to the virus.
No one cares that you’re missing out on the likely, what...3 more ski days you were going to actually get?
people who ski their ass off and have skied 50-100 days already aren’t crying and are transitioning to touring.
sorry Susan...I see here you’ve averaged 8 ski days the last decade, and you’ve skied 6 days thus far this year....yeah, here’s your 100% refund!
fuck outta here

I get it if you bought some pass for a spring break trip and got no use out of it. On the other hand a SEASON pass is for the SEASON and guess what, the season is over. Deal with it

did you even read my post..? The sole point I am trying to make is people need to come at this with kindness and compassion. There is allot of generalization happening in this thread, disregarding particular situations and vulnerabilities some, unfortunate, individuals have. Saying "there is no reason to refund anyone" is directly implying a blatant disregard for a consciousness of different adversities some people face. In the moment, while you like myself am fortunate enough to be relatively unaffected by Covid-19, there are many, many individuals who are facing immense hardship.

Did you read my post? You sound just like the old fart that's throwing the hissy fit at me on Facebook. rea the post above your's. It is a SEASON pass. I don't care what your situation is, you bought a season pass and the season is over. No refunds. That's the risk for the reward of skiing whenever you want in the SEASON. If you bought a DAY or MULTIDAY ticket for SPECIFIC DAYS (hint hint, get it? Don't buy a season pass if you want to use it for a specific time, regardless of price) that are now past the season, then that is worthy of a refund.

Ill bitch if I want too. Worked my fucking ass off to have a good winter doing nothing but traveling and skiing, I bought 3 season passes this year, Im missing a lot of skiing. I get you closed for "public saftey" ok whatever but I paid for the oppurtunity to ski thanksgiving to easter (depending on the resort) I want some small form of credit. Resorts have insurance for this kind of shit, even if not it wouldnt hurt billion dollar corparations to pay out a couple hundred bucks towards pass holders. In fact it would make me buy a pass again next year so...

While you're losing "a couple hundred dollars", thousands of others now don't have a job and will likely go into deep debt during this pandemic and recession. Everyone is going to lose money from this situation, expecting to get reimbursed by anyone but the government and travel companies is unreasonable considering the circumstances.

Look man I understand that. Im not trying to say Its priority to take care of season pass holders before any of the worlds problems but using this as an excuse as blow off basic and proper business standards suck. I get it, some have it worse. 2 of my roomates got laid off, we are all broke and in debt but in terms of a simple coupon for a pass or credit from massive corparations, that should br expected. This is not the apocalypse we cant start throwing rules, laws, manners and ways of life out the window. Screw your head on straight take a deep breath and do what you can to fight a virus, we dont need to start throwing shit and having fights over a roll of toilet paper.

100 off next years pass should be it. Lifts close first weekend in April almost everywhere due to spending habits of non pass holding skiiers.
