I’m currently switching from snowboarding to skiing and I’ve been renting, I’ve been using elan ripstick 106’s and theyve been pretty good, I’m looking to get my own setup and want a ski that can handle everything, I want to be able to tour and ride deep stuff but also be good to go when I can’t find powder, I live in northern B.C. so usually there’s powder to be found
I'm on devastators and they've handled everything the pnw has thrown at me so far
Ski everything you can get your hands on, lots of good manufactures out there. What works for me, may not work for you. I personally ski ON3P Kartel 98's and they work great for me here in the PNW and everywhere I have taken them. Borrow skis, rent skis, demo as many as you can to find the right fit unless you can afford to buy one of each and if thats the case, buy one of each.lol Good luck.

j 108 instead if he likes on3ps, but still not ideal for touring
j 116 is a bit fat for an everyday
maybe try a bent chetler 100

Agreed. I think I may have just suggested a ski to myself by mistake.

get those on3ps
Appreciate the feedback guys, My home town mountain (shames mountain) doesn’t have a demo days I don’t think anyway so I’ve been doing lots of research online, I’ve been looking at the bent Chetler 100’s just worried 100 mm waist will be too small for those deeper days? Does anyone have any experience with them. I’m only getting one pair of skis for the next couple seasons I want to make sure a get a pair that will do everything For now until I can get a dedicated powder ski
I bought some allplays and have no regrets whatsoever. They pretty much handle it all just fine and I'm in wet Washington .

I strongly disagree
Salomon qst 118. Such a slept on ski. Light enough to tour but stiff/burly enough to daily. Playful mount point but deep rocker makes it super easy to slash and it edges pretty decent on the hardpack too.
Honestly I would get the Line Vision 108 with salomon shift bindings. The skis are fairly light but extremely versatile, and the shape has really great float for a 108, and the shift will give you the option to tour if you buy a hybrid boot like the atomic hawx xtd 120. yes, this will all cost a fair amount, but it will allow you to have 1 pair of skis, boots, and bindings that will be really really good for resort skiing, winter touring, and spring/summer touring missions
i live in seattle and own these skis with g3 ions as part of my quiver for dedicated winter touring. feel free to message me with questions
I’m on my second pair of kartel/jeffry 108s and I love them. Look at the woodsman line, I think it would be closer to the ripstick. Don’t go wider than 108 if you only have one pair, powder is fun even on a 90mm ski. Remember in the pnw there are more average/ shitty days than pow.
