probably a dumb idea but would softer skis help reduce knee injuries on jumps? like when you land backseat in a twisting type motion instead of your acl going maybe your skis would just flex through and wash out? like more time equals less force kinda thing? discuss
Isn't that what your bindings are for? Lower your DINs so they release before your knees?

Yeah I think you're right, softer (and shorter/skinnier) skis reduce the torque applied to knees in some situations.....but maybe at the expense of control that could prevent falls.
I also wonder if bindings can keep up with modern shapes and flex patterns. Maybe a softer ski can twist & load up a binding on an unanticipated angle/plane, and it don't release at the set DIN.
