Hey I'm moving to downtown SLC in a month and dont know anyone. Sesh?
larilinesignHey I'm moving to downtown SLC in a month and dont know anyone. Sesh?
Yes!!!! Do you have a place to live yet?
I'm happy to show you ladies around the local parks here. I've been in Utah 2 years now so I know my way around Park City and Brighton, I'm just now learning Woodward but they're still working on getting their park built up. I'm sure you'll make in roads with the other younger ladies here, there are quite a few in the park, particularly at Brighton, but I also see more than a couple on the park city freestyle team. I'm too old to hang with the young up and comers being over 30 (there are a couple snowboard ladies my age but not really any skiers in the park), but if you don't mind hanging out with someone 10+ years older I can tell you all about the local scene if you want to meet up.
I do! I'm living alone in an apartment downtown so I can be close to work
AbiHYes!!!! Do you have a place to live yet?
Any ladies skiing Alta and want to get some footy with me this weekend?
OHHH ME! If I can snag a cheapish ticket I’m 100% down! Send me a dm!
Anyone going to the rail jam at powder mountain? https://sheshreds.co/pages/2020-sheshreds-co-jamboree-at-powder-mountain February 7th. I'm considering going but you still have to buy your own lift tickets, which means unless you take home 1st you aren't covering your expenses to get out there. It would be fun just to share stoke with other ladies, I'm just on the fence about the expense and time commitment to drive and hour and half out there when I have a season pass to parks nearby.

Interested in building a jump Saturday!?
AbiHInterested in building a jump Saturday!?
Probably not now, but ask me again once all the parks are shut down in the spring. If anyone wants to come ride PC with me HMU I'm there most mornings (from open till about 1pm) riding pick axe or little kings. Once PC shuts down I'll be at Brighton and once Brighton shuts down I'll be at Snowbird. I wish snowbird would keep at least a couple of their janky rails up in the spring instead of tearing their whole park down once it's the only game in town.
My fiancé and I need a place to rent/live this summer in Park City / SLC. An apartment, a room, a house will do. Know any places? Got any hookups? We have a medium sized doggo and we’re both skier/snowboarders.

larilinesignHey feel free to reach out! Where's your pass? What days you ski?
Will do! I got the Alta Bird w/ Ikon base and Epic local pass. I'll probably try to get out there a couple hours most weekdays (and all day on weekends) tbd though...

Oh perfect I've got Ikon Base and Epic Local as well. I go every weekend and nightskiing weekdays. Living downtown
Little Kings opened today, hooray! I haven't skied it but I'll be there tomorrow. Woodward is doing a lot better with its park this year, jumps are decent, much better than last year, the rails are still terrible though, mega rusty, mega sticky, not many beginner friendly rails. I went back and watched the PC woodward slvsh game and they were complaining in that game about the sticky rails, nothing has changed. It warms my heart a bit to see all the people railing against PC on their instagram about Transitions park being shut down, maybe vail will realise how much people care about the terrain parks.

U got a woodward pass? I'm on the fence rn

Last year it was only 150 a month I think
Wonder if it’s the same

I would just get the $89 mountain pass. I'm not really into their Olympic-style indoor skate park so don't really have a reason to be inside

It's feeling worth it to have a pass right now since the crowds at Brighton and PC are intense. I'm guessing in a few weeks I'll probably feel differently, especially once Pick Axe opens. Right now Woodward is the fall back for when the PC hoards are too much, which has been happening earlier and earlier lately. The rails suck, but there is a fun zone of like 5 spines / banked turns and a couple rollers that you can link and I've been working on stuff there. The real jumps are a bit large or weird for me to try new stuff on, the smaller of the official jumps are diagonal hips and I don't have a lot of experience hitting weird angles like that.

FYI if you have mountain pass you get a free Sno-GO rental and lesson :). Also I think I saw you there on Sunday, not a lot of snoskaters around heh.

Dude it's crazy how many pros there are here in Utah, not like my podunk washington resorts. I spent all day yesterday with Tom Wallisch on the chairlift behind me. I also got a nod from Simon Dumont once at the top of the park, I was like um yeah you go ahead and drop first. Meanwhile I'm just jerrying it up on the small spine jumps. I will try to say hi next time :)

Yep. It's pretty easy to recognize Twall since I've heard his voice tons announcing at the xgames, also he's always wearing a full North Face outfit.

lol i say “podunk” too and all the east coasters i ski with don’t get it. where in wa did you ski? i just moved out here from baker. great timing too since this year they’re getting nuked.

I skied Snoqualmie, Crystal and Stevens in that order. I miss washington powder, utah supposedly has the greatest snow on earth, but WA gets way more snow, especially in a good year, and the wet powder takes more skill and the right kind of skis to ride so there is way less competition for it. All the resorts look way different from when I left though, it's only been a few years but all the resorts got bought out by vail and alterra and aren't the same at all from when I rode them. The crowds were already getting beyond insane at Stevens pass and everywhere really so I'm not too sad about leaving. Now I just ride a whole lot more park and whole lot less big mountain and powder, which is fine, living 12 miles away from the nearest resort is a lot better than living in Seattle trying to ski every day. I do want to move back to the PNW someday though, I really love the people and the vibe of the area. I would want to live close to a resort though and not spend 4 hours trying to get back home from stevens pass.

i’m in the same boat. i didn’t realize how rough i had it driving over an hour sometimes 2 hours to the mountain lol. but i do miss that creamy snow washington provides. and the vibe is immaculate. i’ll be back one day but after growing up there i needed a change of scenery
