Has anyone tried this boot/own it? Im looking at a pair for short tours. I have aB&E and the boots fits well on my foot and I like how it skis, so I figured the ascendant would be the same thing with a walk mode. Anyone have any wisdom?
If you have the B&E and are looking for a touring boot, go for it! They are the same shell, similar liner, only difference really is that the Ascendant has the walk release on the cuff, and it has a removable tongue, so that you have more range of motion when you tour. It will be a lighter weight intuition touring liner, and the whole boot is Gurrillamid, which is a lighter-weight plastic than Polyurethane. All in all a good boot if you already like the performance and fit of a normal Full Tilt boot. The boot does have a Gripwalk sole on it as well, so be careful and make sure the binding that you intend to use is gripwalk compatible, but if you are touring in Pins, then you are golden.

Awesome, thanks man
Anyone try these on that normally rocks the narrow last full tilts? I'm trying on all these mediocre, horrible flexing, dead ski/tour boots and nothing is getting me excited except these ascendants but I'm afraid my foot will swim in them.
Your foot will swim in them. Try the Lupo or the road r3 130 TI I used to ride the full tilt soul shell and now ride the Roxa inbounds and out.
Interested in these too, almost got them last year but some people scared me away with the low cuff height. I've always liked a boot that you can ride "in the flex" so basically the boots always flexing with your shin to some extent even if you're riding upright.
I had scarpa freedom RS's and they were not that, as well as some of the other touring boots i tried on. basically feels like a wall and dont flex at all with your shins unless your really charging, so making slower speed moves, playful style skiing kinda sucks in them.
These and the lupo's seem like the only touring boots that might have that nice in the flex feel. maybe the roxa's too but my feet are wide AF no they might be a no go.
yeah a lot of people talk about that low cuff height, but I skied the B&E as my only boot for a few years and the Ascendants cuff is higher than that so idk what people are comparing it to. I found the B&E more than adequate as a downhill boot
The low cuff height threw me off. I am a huge dude and I need the large last (one of the only reasons I originally went with the boot). I ride a heavy setup and go pretty hard on it. The only time that I wish I had a different boot is when the snow is super variable and choppy and I am going a little fast.
The intuition liners really make all the difference and make the boot super comfy. I tour in these as well they are a great boot with a range of motion for me. I don't know if this is just me being hard on my gear given the amount of use but some of the plastic bits scratch super easy compared to my old boots.
I got the Ascentdents after getting a pair of Drop kicks and found the DK to be insanely comfortable.
Ascendents are way stiffer and fit slightly different, made the comfort way worse tbh
walk mode is ridiculously good though (especially at the price point!) but rebuilding boots during transitions is a bit time consuming. I’d trade time to gain comfort any day though.
It’s a gloves off deal or at least stripping to inners if that’s something you need to consider?
Personally thinking about swapping the 120 tongue for something a little softer to see if it makes things a little more comfortable going down.
I think you’d need to spend an extra £200 to get a better boot so they’re definitely worth short listing.
Think I’d stick with my Dynafit’s if I needed to take the skis off though and start booting up anything sketchy.
second season on them
i love these boots!
theyre great if the fte shell fits you
i ski them everywhere from the park to the bc
DingoSeanGreat if you have a wide ass foot...
or a v shaped one
Just wanted to post a quick update for anyone wondering, I’ve had the boot for a few months now and it’s awesome. Performs on the downhill just like my old B&E, and going uphill is more than adequate. Not like a Maestrale RS but it gets the job done while keeping my feet comfortable. Removing the tongue is a fiddle factor that I’m more than happy to deal with to keep my feet happy, it’s not nearly as annoying as everyone makes it out to be. If anyone is curious about it, try one on! They’re awesome boots and they feel familiar which is the biggest thing for me

Hey I've skied under a year on my ascendants, and as a boot I loved them. One peice of warning is all 4 of my tech inserts have cracked under the boot and have begun moving causing them to coming out which is kind of scary if it happens in the b*********y. I recently took them to a shop and they pretty well took them from me to keep me from skiing them and they initiated the warranty process with full tilt.
Just something to watch for before your warranty runs out. Look for gaps around the insert as well as small cracks in the corner of the insert above the sole
Hey, so I really want these ascendants. I work at a ski shop and have access to shell and liner molding. I want an FT tech boot and they only make a 102. If my foot measures 100mm do u think I could get the fit right for me with some adjustment in the boot altercation. I'm not dumb enough to buy them without trying them on and making certain they will work but I will be pretty sad if they don't lol. Lmk guys

So I work at a shop and I’m a boot fitter as well, and I did have this boot for a half season. My foot measures 97mm wide, so obviously not at all taking up all the room in a 102mm boot. But, and this is the caveat, my instep is really wide and tall. The 3 piece design alleviates a lot of pressure on it, which is why I’ve skied Full tilt almost my whole life. Once I had molded the liner, the boot was great. Once it had packed out after skiing in it, there was too much room. Your foot at 100mm wide isn’t horrible, but try the boot on and really walk around in it. Most shops won’t hold you to a liner mold since it can be redone, so if you can get one molded, do it.

This is the good news I was looking for, kind of! Thanks for the help. I have the same foot problems as you and the 3 piece works wonders. My shop does shell and liner molds so I think I will be ok. Thanks!

You should be good brotha! You want a little bit of extra room in a touring boot anyway because of the swelling that happens on the uphill!

In the park/resort are you using regular bindings on other skis? and if so do you need to swap the toe pieces around like the salomons?

The toe pieces don’t need to be swapped unless your alpine bindings can’t accommodate GripWalk. If you have GripWalk bindings then you can keep them the way they are

Shit, all my park/resort skis have 10 year old bindings on them haha

What you can do in that scenario is use the traditional alpine soles (ISO 5355) that are (I think?) included in the box. If not they’re like 20 bucks from any FT dealer or their website. Those will work with touring bindings and old alpine bindings. Hope that helps!

I run fks binders on my inbounds set up and shifts on my bc

I have super skinny ankles and they fit great right out of the box with the included ankle wraps

And you run ascendants all the time without changing the toe? changing the toe can't be that big a deal?

i havent found any reason to change them

Again you don’t need to change out the toes the pins are in the toe lug of the boot not the soles

Thanks for the info, for some reason I thought that for some reason the sole made them incompatible with regular bindings.
