weird question that could have many guesses, but I’ve never hit AB earlier in the season, I always try and go late. This year I’m thinking early... Around what time do you think A Basin is fully open (>80%). Early December?
Considering there's not really snowmaking on most the mountain, I'll quote the wise words of Andre 3000
'You can plan a pretty picnic but you can't predict the weather'
Also, if anything off the pali chair opens in December, bring skis you don't mind trashing.
Like January, sometimes it’s all open late December if you are lucky
I heard Al of Al's blog decides when it snows and how much.
Thanks guys. Any opinions on Alta’s % open by early December? Every always hypes it up for early season.

That also depends on how much it snows

you’re asking dumb questions. So you get dumb answers.
Seriously, no one knows dates places will
be fully open. It’s all based on weather. There’s been years places are never fully open. There are other years where they are 100% by mid December.

Take Taos, for example. 17/18 was an absolutely miserable year for those guys, talkin 20" base end of February. Wasn't until 2019 that >80% of the ski are was open.
Abasin 80% open I would say is February at least.
I've been there in the fall during the last 5 years and no two seasons have been similar.
Good example look at the range of Zuma Bowl Opening Dates

Just get some skins bro and throw your mountain bike in the car and it can be fully open whenever you want it to be.
You actually knew the answer before you asked the question: there is NO correct answer due to variability of weather. That's why you even wrote that the answers "could have many guesses". You didn't just write "many", you even wrote "guesses" instead of "answers". You knew! So, you are not really asking a question, you're trying to work out your own frustration with uncertainty (and the uncertainty about the uncertainty). You'll just have to deal with it and be prepared.
As of now, they will open one run on October 19 according to their website
My next door neighbor is an older dude that has lived in CO for years and he knows a guy who is an old Forestry worker who is into tree rings and stuff. Anyway, according to his reading of tree rings we are in a once every 30 year 'wet cycle' which hopefully will continue this winter. So yeah, there is that.
