just got to thinking, what makes a good edit I think 2nd to skiing its the music
filming and creativefeatures make a big difference for me
i hate when good tricks are lost to a generic format
edit:: sandyboville's junkyard edit is a cool example
nothing crazy just an enjoyable edit that sets a mood

100% creativity makes a good edit. Of course theres exceptions, but someone is always going to be doing more swaps or more spins than you; big tricks don't cut it anymore. Its a mix of good tricks with creative tricks like backslides, some shuffles, a variety in different zoom ranges/depth of field ranges on shots, and of course smoothly put together with a nice track. Im sure everyone has there own criteria of a good edit but thats the kind of stuff I enjoy watching these days
editing and song choice make or break an edit in my opinion. good editing and music can make any skiing pop and look dope
Don’t be afraid to show off becuase I did like nothing so my most recent edit is shit

Yeah that sums it up pretty nicely. Made me think about that SIMPLE Deadkind edit where Jake Carney doesn't do any double flips or super tech rail tricks, but the flow and editing is so mindblowing that it's still one of the best edits on NS.
It is all about the camera angles and editing. It dosen't mater the skiers skill, if all the shots are from the same angle/height etc its going to get super repetitive.
Before Instagram the edits usually had a bit of substance to them. I was a big fan of the intro where its first person and they are strapping into their ski gear for the day. A bit of dialog in the car driving up is sweet too
creativity and your own style for sure.
If an edit doesn’t close out with an absolute banger is it even an edit?
fisheye camera or any camcorder from the 90s, and good lofi music from a youtube video with 5 views
Wrong camera angle can make something rad... look lame
