Find it makes it easier for smaller rails that sit below lips - sort of like a box where they come straight out of the lip rather than onto it, less hard to lock on as you're already centred over the rail.
you mean just a straight on jump? probably more than half the park rails in existence are like that. most people learn that way. what part is confusing you?
No like I mean when it's an urban style rail, but instead of jumping on from the side you go on with in between your legs and hop up
def easier to learn that way. it gives starters the feeling of metal under their skis, helps with learning to grip into the rail, etc. It's a habit that shouldn't stay around for too long though, after a few clean runs its prob a good idea to get in the hang of urban on. i wouldn't justify it beyond just learning your first rail slides.
If the rail is flush with the kicker, there is no shame in straddling. If the rail is above the kicker, urban on is easier and just more stylish.
Its called physics bru. When you jump perpendicular, you don't have to adjust your momentum
Yea OP that's how I learned rails but I have a way harder time straddling rails now than just jumping on from the side.

we just going to pretend you never hit a box before straight on?

My friend fucking does this with urban rails 2 feet from the lip. Straight fucked lol

I'm not talking about a box dogfart
Talking abt an urban style rail
at bear a lot of things are set up with really low narrow lips so you have to on some features.
I learned to hit rails like that. Also once you can hit rails sideon, it's just a way to keep hitting rails fresh and mix it up. Why do any trick apart from the easiest, safest possible way? It's fun
Anyone else think this thread was gonna be about nutting a rail? Sad...
My friend used to do this on every rail just because going on from the side seemed sketchy. only took on tall down rail to end that habit.
