So I've got a sick backyard setup with a nice mellow box that I can hit naturally in my sleep basically but whenever I tell myself that next hit I'm gonna do it unnatty I always chicken out. Is there any secrets or is it to just send it?
this probably isnt great advice lol but i always had an easier time sliding unnatty when i span into it. like, sw270 in puts me unnatty and i never had a problem with it, but i'd have a harder time just jumping on unnatty

Slide it a few times in just your ski boots. No seriously, jump onto your jib with just your ski boots on. Click in and send it!
If you skate try and skate ur opposite foot foward. It might not sound like much but it helped me a lot. If you don’t skate do some really early front swaps to get used to the unnatural slide. Good luck!
I find coming onto a rail in my natural spin direction a lot easier. So I usually have an easier time and lock in more consistently doing a sw lip on (so I'm spinning left on for left foot forward) than just coming up to the rail and rotating to the right on for left foot forward. Granted I've never done sw lip on anything but low consequence and easy rails..
Thanks for all the tips guys. I tried about 10 times to go unnatty but every time I slipped out and I just got tired cause its hotter than a mother outside. As to coming in switch, its scary enough as is to go in forwards to that's probably never gonna happen lol.
if you can 2 on thats a good way that helped me balance the slide better, that and early bs and fs. Pretend like you're jumping onto a skateboard unnatty maybe or something. The only thing that will get you to learn them is keep trying them and figure out what you need to work on
Just stand on the box in your unnatural stance for a while, do some hops and switchups just standing still like that. Then think the whole line through in your head, visualizing your successful stomping of the unnatural slide. When you can picture it all the way through, send it! focus on your breathing too, that will help you stay calm. Try to exhale as you pop ( practice this going your natural way to line it up). The human body is more balanced when exhaling, hence why people generally exhale when shooting a gun.
the way i learned unnatty slides was promise my friend that i'd let him shave my eyebrows off if i didnt try it. the fear of no eyebrows was greater than the fear of falling so i just sent it. i ate shit but i got over my mental block and progressed from there

Bend your knees, lean forward, and put more weight on your front foot. Also, dont be afraid to jump all the way on top of the rail. If you find yourself always slipping off one side of the rail, try to purposely slip off early on the other side and keep working it until you can find a good balance.
