I can’t be the only NS’er that takes some interest in the race events. Bummer that the men’s downhill was postponed, but I’m stoked to see Shiffrin go after a gold in Women’s GS tonight.

Watching real ski races is fucking tense and crazy. The dinky things resorts set up for rich kids on blue groomers are dorky and are what many people think of as ski races.
The downhill course looks exceptionally fucking boring.
Nothing hairy or exceptionally technical about it. The best glider wins I guess.

Did you watch training? It's a pretty technical course man. The top section is wild.
the abhorrent coverage NBC has been playing makes it seem like the ski racing events are either ligety, shiffrin, and vonn. Nevermind the germans or any other powerhouse ski racing countries.....;.

Watch out badass over here.

looks mellow on TV but that one section on the DH course where its a gnarly left turn into a right on a really fucked up angled and rolly/rough part looks like a hell of a time trying to hold that inside left edge
also lol at the mods editing out my "inb4 ur a faget" disclaimer

Those dinky things the resorts set up are what get the kids to the real races, remember...

It's a pretty comparatively chill, mellow course tbh. If the only other dh race/s you know are Kitz etc., it's going to seem like a pretty boring course.
The problem for the racers is that it's going to be almost too easy, any minor mistake is going to take them out of contention, so I guess in that way it actually is quite techincal
