hey ns, I got an a6000, and since it’s so light I’m noT sure weather or not s regular glidecam / steadicam will work with it because it’s so light.... would it be easier to just get a phone gimbal and throw it in there? Or would a normal glidecam work even though it’s extremely light?
well glidecam makes different models for different weights, look on their website and see what the tolerances are and compare that with how much your lens + camera + mic? weighs....youll have to do the same thing if you get a gimbal....

Yea I know they do.... unfortunately my old cam setup got stolen so I only had enough saved up for this plus 2 kit lenses... the 16-50 pz and 56-210 oss, and unfortunately unless I can find a way to adapt a shotgun mic onto it, there’s no mic input so looks like edits will most likely have no sound :(

it sucks that the A6000 doesn't have an input but you aren't outta luck, sony makes this: https://www.sony.com/electronics/handycam-camcorders-microphones-speakers/ecm-xyst1m and there are similar cheaper options: https://www.amazon.com/Sony-ECMGZ1M-Zoom-Microphone-Black/dp/B00HPM0826/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1480617476&sr=1-2&keywords=a6000+microphone
and back when I used to use a glidecam with an A7S I used a manfrotto quick release plate, and mounted velcro underneath the top glidecam plate and attached groups of the heaviest washers I get at the hardware store depending on what lens I had mounted. The quick release plate is key so you don't have to rebalance every damn time, so the camera is always in the exact same spot. The glued together washers were key to add more weight to the whole rig so the top and bottom are even. More weight = steadier

Dang, thanks for the advice man that’s gonna help a lot, and I already have a regular quick release plate from my tripod head, could I just use that or do I need to get the whole system? Also that stereo mic looks pretty nice, only thing I’d be worried with that is that it could attract a lot of extra wind noise since I don’t see a way to throw a deadcat on there

what type of tripod head/plate do you have?
and I wouldn't worry because you can find a compatible deadcat for pretty much any microphone, including the two I linked you

got an andoer fluid head, I love it, it was 20 bucks and is super smooht and all metal. heres a link: https://www.amazon.com/Andoer-Tripod-Monopod-Release-Manfrotto/dp/B00P22ORAK/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1516843630&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=andoer+fluid+head&psc=1

hmm that's tricky since its a rando $20 tripod with no specific QL plate, so I have no idea what to search for to find a compatible adapter, if it even exists
heres what I had mounted on my glidecam: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/241139-REG/Manfrotto_577_577_Rapid_Connect_Adapter.html it used the same plate on my manfrotto tripod so you can easily swap back and forth
I have an a6300 with a weight plate from glidecam with the manfrotto quick release plate and a rode video micro on a glidecam hd2000 and it is enough weight to fly it well. Back when I had a gh2 which was super light I used a quick release plate with a longer screw so that I could fit tiles underneath the plate to add more weight on the top. There are all sorts of options, don't give up on the glidecam idea, because in my opinion they are easier to film skiing than a gimbal.
