Just ordered some ARV 96 177 and Rossi FKS. Recomended mounting position is like 5 cm back from center. I was hoping to use these skis like 60% park and 40% all mountain. Would you guys recommend mounting them at the recommended postion or should I center mount them. Will center mounting make them ski better in the park? Any info will help. Thanks.
There are 2 mount lines locations on the ARV 96, the further back line is -5cm back/the “All Mountain/very little Park” line and the more centered line is (-2.5 cm back) is the “50/50 of Park/All Mountain” line. Mount on the -2.5cm line and enjoy with your preferences!
Never center mount unless you are skiing nothing but rails and are willing to sacrifice performance everywhere else on the mountain.
Great skis btw!

Ok I'm leaning towards the -2.5 option but am still considering center mounting them. Some people said to center mount. Wouldn't you have more balance when landing after throwing spins if you center mounted or that 2.5cm difference doesn't really make a difference??
The ski is not a symmetrical ski so will be more stable just a touch back from center. Even if you went just a 1cm back of center it would be a lot better than true center.
As I said before, you can always center mount any ski but it will not ski as well on any but rails and will be unstable at speed out of the park. Lots of people do it but they are sacrificing performance out of the park. There is a reason all ski designers and pros don’t think you should mount a ski at center unless you are doing nothing but rails and urban.

do the middle option. people love to say "center mount them!" but really that's only a good idea if you ski only park. you will have no issues with balance and tricks and shit with the -2.5, but you will see a detriment in your all mtn ability if you center mount
Ok cool. I guess ill go with the -2.5 recommended position.
I have ARV 96 centre mounted and I find no problem with riding then everywhere.

Same
The roofbox review on the 106's mentioned that they liked them at the -2.5 if that helps at all
Anyone else actually ride them and how do you have them mounted?? Now I’m stuck deciding on where to mount. So many different opinions.

no one is saying they won't work or something haha, it's just that the cons outweigh the pros unless you literally only ski park and are backwards literally half the time, and even then it's not objectively better. mounting center on a non symmetrical ski messes with the turning geometry because your foot midpoint is no longer on the same part of the sidecut that it was intended to be. that's worth it if you don't give a shit about carving, and mounting at -2.5 in this case means you totally have a good balance of area in front of and behind your feet
That maybe true but from my experience with the ski it carves like a beast from the centre. 2.5cm is as near as makes no difference imo

yeah man, biggest thing to OP to know right now is none of this is a big deal, he has a badass setup and it's going to be sick as hell regardless of what he decides on for a mounting point. decide and don't worry about it again!
Thanks for the info guys. I really appreciate it. Just trying to get the best answer since I’m a college student and money’s tight. Just trying the get the best mounting option. But I think I’m going to go with the -2.5...one more question- I can’t find the mounting points in the skis. Am I blind or they don’t have them?? I’ll upload pictures soon.
Nvm guys. I found it. It really blended in with the design. Well anyways thanks a lot can’t wait to shred with these!!
