My friend and I want to make a rail for his yard to ski this winter and I was just wondering what the best materials to use would be and how much to spend?
i used 1.5in pvc pipes and some pressure treated lumber. not sure what other people use
4x4, 2x4s, 2x 2" pvc tubes, box of screws
Can borrow a drill and saw from somebody. Looking at 50 max to build a nice pvc rail. Can probably be done for $20.

Ups on the pressure treated lumber. Otherwise the wood gets nasty and mouldy which is no fun if you plan to store it anywhere near your house or garage. Also, watch for splinters cause I think I recall something about them being crappy (blood poisioning and infection I think)
2, 2 or 1.5 inch pvc drilled into a 2x4 from the bottom of the 2x4 (so the top is still smooth). Supported by a few 4x4 pieces (however tall and long you want the rail to be). Then just use 2x4 pieces as supports out from the legs
Go ask construction workers for any spare wood or pvc I got a 4inch pvc that was 11 feet long for free only had to play 5 dollars for a 2x4
