so I hate to say this I love saga and I think there hackers are sick but I think there is a stereotype going on Idk If it’s just in utah but it’s bad I have talked to lots of people on park lifts always hating on the kids with saga jackets because most of those guys if I ask for advice on a trick lots of them will blow me off and it makes me mad plus all the time I hear if anyone has a saga jacket they’re a park junkie deuche bag but who know it might just be me anyone else think this stereotype is going on?
I bought a shit ton of saga. 75-805 off? Fuck yeah. Idk about trends though and it hasn't turned me into a douche bag.
As long as you aren't a fuck wad, idc what you wear. Same thing goes with the buddies I shred with.
Anyone who actually cares about that shit is a kook
Wear what you want.. it's a sport not a fashion statement. As long as you're not skiing in a track suit you nobody will take the time to say anything
Nah id say lil kids wearing SAGA are getting a bad rep. Most snake people with a full SAGA kit. Dont do this and you are fine

Why the hell would I use periods. They are a waist of time. Gosh you probably don’t know what a jerry is

that's kind of what it is though-- saga suits are the track suits of yesteryear. it was a big trend so lots of kids got into it, and guess what, plenty of park rat kids are little douchers. so in some people's mind there's an association between saga gear and d bags. doesnt mean it's always true or always false, it's just another stereotype

Why break up one giant idea into a bunch of little ideas? /s
Well that is an unfortunate link for us. Nothing we can really do about so I guess we'll just keep making out outerwear and doing fun things with our friends that ski and snowboard.

Keep making the best 3L value in a freeride fit. I won't be mad.
I’ve been wearing saga ever since I started. I love what they make. I’ve bought 3 pairs of pants from them in the past 5 years. My first pair (oldest obviously) was the best quality. I think quality isn’t what it used to be. But idk about this seasons stuff. I want a pair of the anomie bibs SOOO bad but I’m not dropping that much money. On the other hand I bought 2 pairs of virtika pants both pairs blew out within 5 days in the crotch. Saga has my support but I also think it’s skiing. Wear what you want lol. If you like track pants I think you’re a good, but that’s what you like I can’t judge you for that. If you wanna wear yobeat jackets like I do I don’t give a shit what you think.
Tl;dr
i ski because it’s fun. Not because it’s a fashion statement.
Saga had a phase a few years back where some of their hoodies were kinda obnoxious, but they make great shit for a good price. I think I buy something from them almost every year and will continue to do so.
theabortionatorI bought a shit ton of saga. 75-805 off? Fuck yeah. Idk about trends though and it hasn't turned me into a douche bag.
Don't think it was ever worth full price but hell yeah I got a sweatshirt for like $15 and it has a zip up pocket that you can put stuff in.
I just bought a jacket, a hoodie, and the nicest flannel I've ever worn from Saga all for less than $90. Quality is there for sure, I probably wouldnt buy any of it full price unless i was dying to have it, mainly because i know it'll probably end up like 60+% off at the end of the season. That's why I'm so down with Saga, cause it's borderline free a lot of the time.
Girlfriend pre ordered some of the new women's gear, she is beyond stoked to get her new bibs.
Saga was the shit up until a few seasons ago. A huge amount of little kids, and just people in general, began wearing it and their designs started to suck (Seriously fuck neon). I feel like they're seen as an outerwear company for kids, which is unfortunate because they're recent designs have been pretty dope.
Back in 2011 or 2012, Saga was really only worn by "the really good kids" in the park. Today's heavy hitters sport Tall T, Goodwill clothing, or "hypebeast" apparel such as Tommy Hilfiger, Champion, and Supreme. Yes I know that not every expert park skier will be exclusively rocking one of the aforementioned styles.
At the end of the day, clothing doesn't really matter. Being able to throw the fuck down in a floral Saga hoodie is just as respectable as being able to throw down in an Adidas track jacket.

Respect to this.
Personally I've started to dislike the Saga designs in the past few years and I personally believe that their material quality has decreased. In the past two years I have had both Saga and Virtika pants for size comparisons. While I prefer the size and fit of the Saga bibs, the quality of them is lower then that of Virtika and many other brands.
This quality could be decreasing due to a lower price point, but lets be honest that these materials don't cost $300 to purchase and another $100 to make. Companies like Strafe and others are charging absurd prices for their outerwear, therefore making extreme profits, but also making very high quality gear. Which can profit the ski industry but most of us can't afford.
With my next pair of pants, I am not going to be purchasing Saga bibs unless the quality increases and they aren't a crazy neon pink color.
That is just my two cents though.. I'm sure most of the people agree that we are being charged too much for all of our outerwear.
Idk about the designs. I only buy stuff that I like. That said there were little kids rolling around in the park with saga for years. Maybe you guys just got older.

Thanks for the words. You are correct, materials and production do not equal the final cost. You are forgetting that there are a lot of other costs that go into developing, producing and delivering any product. You have to account for your design team and staff that creates and ships the product, warehousing space, marketing expenses, etc. Also, it is extremely unlikely that 100% of every product produced sells. When calculating the final price of an item you take into account the amount that will be used for exchanges, returns, etc. There is also pricing the items competitively. If you price something too far below its competitors it can have a negative perception even if it is as good as the more expensive one.
Our primary goal with outerwear especially is to make as good of if not better pieces and be able to sell them at a lower cost because we primarily sell direct and are able to bypass costs that come with mass retail and distribution sales.

Good to hear all of this. With Saga I have always felt that you have provided a relatively accurate price for the gear you are providing and I respect you for that, that rant I went on was set more towards brands that are charging $500 for their jackets.
Thanks for all the information, that definitely gave me a more positive outlook on Saga.
I like saga gear a lot but I hate the little kids that snake me wearing saga, its really cool to see that they give feedback to us on NS though, big ups!
Who in 2017 still cares what they wear and look like?

95% of the worlds populations probably.
Saga is chill. Some of their 3L stuff is nice and really good value for money. I mainly just wanted outerwear that I could rely on as I've had faulty gear before that has destroyed within a season. I know Saga has a good presence within the community and stands for idea's I agree with. Mainly I know I can trust to get a reply from them if I ever have any issues.
Wear what you want, I'm not your mom.

I've never heard of this brand but I hope you understand that higher price does not directly translate into higher profits. Like Saga mentioned there's a whole list of costs that have to be paid for whether they contribute directly to the outerwear itself (example: materials and manufacturing) or indirectly (example: a customer service agent). What is most likely the case for this Strafe brand you speak of is that they use higher quality material and a more complex assembly process (which cost more to them) which in consequence will make them charge more for their items but at the same time scare a lot of people from buying this expense product. So yes they sell at a higher price but they probably sell less. Profit can't simply be assumed to be proportionate to revenues (sales). Just thought I'd give you some more info on this topic.
Cheers man, have a good winter!
YO I heard if you don’t hit up a thrift store on your way up to PC and puff spliffs in the woods off 3 kings with all the COOL kids you’re lame!!
Stay on your own wave you kooks!! #coolkidsonly
They just give me free stuff. Honestly if they didnt i'd be hittin up Virtika
frickindarni ski because it’s fun. Not because it’s a fashion statement.
frickindarnIf you wanna wear yobeat jackets like I do
If you're gonna argue that you only ski for fun and not for fashion statements you probably shouldn't make fashion statements in your argument.

Not really a fashion statement. Yea a clothing statement. But not exactly pro or anti fashion lol.

fair, I just have a hard time believing that someone doesn't give a shit about ski fashion after they tell everyone on NS what clothes they wear to the hill

The last part of my sentence also said something along the lines of me not caring if someone is judging me for what I like.

Skiing is a fashion show
I think some of their stuff looks nice. I got a nice jacket from them this year, along with an insulated flannel. Both fit great and the jacket looks like something out of armadas line. Solid grey with brown stitching and leather accents. I think that 2 years ago saga was the worst. Their line was pretty much all neon and comic sans, and was worn by middleschoolers.
This years line is mostly muted colors and designs and I feel like saga kindve realized the path they were going down and have started to make more mature clothing.
OregonDeadSkiing is a fashion show
This. If nobody really gave a shit everything would just be shades of gray. Youre kidding yourself if youve never bought a piece of gear because you thought it looked cool. And while the saga kids were absolutely a thing for a while it seems to be calming down. New saga stuff a definite departure.
Idk I feel like those who rep the low key saga shit not the neon are well seperated from the kids in neon. As far as quality goes they are great but u have to time up the sales
Winter clothing getting bad reputation?
In comparison to what exactly?
I'm 40 this year and I wear Saga, there it's dead.
They have some ncie freeride stuff for the price. I have the 3L jacket in Khaki and black anomie pants. Doesn't look obnixious at all
Personally iv'e been snaked by more kids in saga jackets than there are seconds in a day. Not just saga jackets, though, they are in a full saga kit acting like they're sponsored. That being said I dont hate on anyone because if have a few saga pullovers, and I'm not a douche I hope.
Really this just comes down to personal preference. Yeah you see a lot of kids wearing it. I have owned a lot of saga stuff including waiting on a full kit to be shipped currently. Other brands make great stuff as well. I just enjoy their product and the price point isn't horrible. I like to support them because they have really good customer service (at least when I have had to deal with it). You ask them a question through social media and they respond pretty quickly. Everyone has their preferences and Saga is just my preference. You can hate them of love them but in the end it comes down to what the individual wants. If you like Saga stuff rock it, If you like Virtika rock it, If you like track pants, again rock it. Just my 2 cents.
Just don't ski in jeans and you're fine. Who cares what brand it is. Just rock your shit.

You know I own one of those haha
I feel like this applies to the 12-16 age range the most.
i loved Saga way back. now i have lost interest in some. their Bibs look nice tho. not really a fan of the newer drops
