ROSSIGNOL BLACKOPS 2018
Anybody have a recommendation on size? I am about 5’7 165lbs and my current pow skis are 179 petitors which I found perfect. 186 seems huge and 176 seems tiny. I ski a good amount of trees but like the extra stability of the longer skis.

For your height, you could go 176, but for your weight, you could go 186.
probably should go 186, especially if you think you're gonna grow. K2 sizes spot on or big, so your 179s are a true 179 or even a few cm larger. Rossi probably shrinks like most companies, so the 186 will be a few cm shorter than stated.
go with 186
OldNJadedThey offered this years in 186 only. I know Rossi sent Tatum M a pair in 176 towards the end of this last season.I'm sure if they made a few different versions they also have a variety in the sizing.
i think it is 186 or 176 now.

Thanks that’s what I was thinking. It just seemed large. I am going to pull the trigger when the bindings are in stock.

if your boots fit, 186 is probably fine

Actually a 192cm will be releasing in January as per what the rep told me
Instead of making another thread just gonna post here, looking for reviews of the 118 black ops, I'm 160lbs, 6'1, they would probably be replacing my Jeffrey 114s that I love and adore, and they would probably be coming to Japan with me. Comparable to Jeffs/Bibbys/? Looking for something fun that can stomp and rip the shit out of anything like my Jeff's could. Depending how heavy they actually are reasonable to put a adrenaline on them or no?

Owned Black Ops and 3 variations of Jeffrey's over the years; OG 108mm/2nd gen 110mm ordered stiffer with wider carbon and the Jeffrey 122.
Swapping out your Jeffrey's for Black Ops would be a step in the wrong direction in my opinion.
If you're looking to actually throw money at some new skis to replace the Jeffrey's you "love and adore," immediately order up some Kartel 116's and thank me later.

Eh.
I haven't skied the BlackOps, but I didn't like the K116 as much as I love the Jeff 114.

Any elaboration? As much as I would love another pair of ON3Ps, I really can't foot the bill rn, and I think I can get a crazy deal on the Rossi's through my work. Just trying to see whether or not I would actually like them...
Carl_the_LlamaPulled the trig so I guess we'll see
Dude I think you're gonna like em. The BlackOps seems like a super solid ski, I wanna get on a pair.
Got a nasty deal on them too so I'm stoked

It should go without saying that the difference in build qualities is immense. I've skied a lot of Rossignols in my day, but the Black Ops seemed to have the softest bases I've ever seen from them.
They are a fun ski, especially if you got a deal on them. But they are nowhere near as fun, or as playful as the Kartel116's. Definitely a stout and heavy ski, but to me it's more one dimensional compared to how versatile the ON3P's are.
You'll have a blast on them. Just be mindful of the early season rocks...

Fair enough, I guess we'll see, thanks for the info

Well it was never designed to versatile like the Kartel haha. So good job!
does anyone know when they are available to purchase rossi rep has no information on the 98, i NEED this in my quiver.

I really wanna get on a pair of the BlackOps, but I feel like they cant be too bad it terms of versatility.. I mean, theyre on the fatter side, but I have skied a decent amount of versatile fat skis. And its not like they have some crazy shape either..

I was blown away with the versatility of the 118. Theres a good amount of camber underfoot so you get great edge purchase and stability on hard snow. The weight isnt an issue, the ski is still energetic and playful. It was the only ski i skied on last winter in all conditions. The 98 has a ton of pop as well. You can't go wrong with either ski

I'm almost hoping I don't like my Inthaynes so I can get a pair of BlackOps lol...
Once I get on my Inthaynes and if I somehow don't like them/feel they're too much, who's gotta pair of BlackOp 118 for sale/trade?:)
Just picked up a pair of 98's, anybody actually know the exact specs tip and tail?

you have them, measure it yourself.
scratchskier321you have them, measure it yourself.
Wow, great idea. I was just curious because people have said they are a different shape and construction than the slat, but mine seem to be the exact same specs
Way too stoked, they look so sick, and everything about them screams fun. Will update after first ride

Did you mount them at the -3 line?

Nah, messaged p white and chris Logan and they both said -1 from center so I went -1.5

Hmm they look pretty far back, I've never mounted anything farther back than -2 and it felt really wierd to mount on the fac recommend line but thats where it ended up for me.

I think it's just the shitty angle, I mounted them myself so I would know lol

FKS always look far back due to the heel piece being so forward of a hole pattern.
Apparently the 118 is available in Europe now (although not everywhere) and my pair should arrive by next week.
I'm stupidly excited to try them.
Ok they came much faster than anticipated! I went to pick them up today and fuck, they look so slick.
Quick question for the people who have the 118: what does the "line" mean? (I'm guessing that's the mount line, but how far from center is it?) And the #? True center location? Don't want to fuck up when I get them mounted.

I would measure them out, but the line on mine was -3/4 cm back from centre

the line is -3. That where I put mine because I figured id be charging and sending forward a lot more than switch so.
Ok great! -3 is where I wanted them mounted, so it's perfect. Thanks
Skied mine the first time on Thursday, little bit disappointed tbh, conditions were soft, lots of new snow recently, but with a pretty low crustyish base. Compared to my Jeffrey's I found they didn't have as big of a top end, were hookier, and not as manouverable, while skiing shorter and considerably and noticeably heavier. To be fair, once the snow softened up in the afternoon we were skiing mostly pow and it was one of the best snow experiences I've had, although I don't think it would have been any less good on the Jeffrey's, possibly better. I think I'll ski them another time and see if I like them enough to keep them.
In the mean time, question for all you on3p sluts, how do the Billy goats compare to the Jeff's? Chargier, more directional I assume? Guy selling a pair locally and I'm very very tempted...

I skied mine for the first time Thursday and experienced pretty well the opposite of what you did. Having said that I was coming off a set of petitors not jefferies. Did you by chance not detune them? I took a gummy Stone to my edges and I think that really helped with hookyness. My only gripe with them is that they are heavy. They definitely took some getting used to when spinning especially off cat tracks and flatter take offs. Honestly I had a blast skiing them no regret making that purchase. In the mean time, question for all you on3p sluts, how do the Billy goats compare to the Jeff's? Chargier, more directional I assume? Maybe you should have mounted them on the line;)
give em a detune, and next time you’re skiing pay attention and see if you’d enjoy them more if they were a bit back on the line, if not, I’m sure you’ll have no problem selling them:)
stoked to try out my new pow skis soon

Yea that's a good point, I'll probably give that a try before I write them off.
